Q&A With Rookie Cornerback Davon House

Fourth-round draft choice, cornerback Davon House, talked to Cheesehead TV about about the lockout, meeting his new teammates and joining a defensive backfield that includes Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams.

GRAND CHUTE, Wis.––Yesterday at the annual Donald Driver Celebrity Softball Game, I had the opportunity to catch up with fourth-round draft choice Davon House, the highest drafted rookie to attend Sunday's event. He talked about the lockout, meeting his new teammates and joining a defensive backfield that includes Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams. Here's what he had to say....

Cheesehead TV: I assume this is the first time meeting many of the guys on the team?

Davon House: I'm excited. I wish I could stay here for more than just today. But as soon as the lockout is over, I'll be here the next flight I can catch.

CHTV: Where have you been working out?

DH: I've been working out on my own at this place called The Factory (in California). There's been some veterans there that I also work out with.

CHTV: When will you officially move to Green Bay?

DH: Whenever the lockout is over, so hopefully tomorrow.

CHTV: What will it be like to join the likes of Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams in the Packers' defensive backfield?

DH: It's a blessing. I get to to learn from the best. I feel like I'm only going to get better than what I am now, and I can't wait to get rolling.

CHTV: Did you get an opportunity to meet Pat Lee, another cornerback, at the Donald Driver softball game?

DH: I talked to him too as well. I talked to Tramon (Williams) and Sam Shields as well. I was looking forward to talking to Charles, but he isn't here today. But as soon as the lockout's over, there's going to be a lot of, probably too much talking for me, and I've got to start doing some listening than anything.

CHTV: For those of us who haven't seen you before, what type of player are you? What are your strengths?

DH: I feel like I'm a playmaker. Whenever the ball's in the air, somehow, someway, I'm around the ball, and I take pride in that. And I feel like I can also support the run, and I play good bump and run.

CHTV: On the other side of the coin, what is something you still need to work on?

DH: I need to work on my transitioning in and out of breaks.

Is there a more ideal situation for House to be entering the NFL? With Woodson, Williams and Shields already entrenched in their roles, there is little to no pressure on the rookie. Regardless of the situation, I think House is going to be a good player in this league.

It'dbe nice to see House really start well and another young pup in Josh Gordy do well so we can lose pat lee and underwood(dumb & dumber).
Like to see House take that Dime role but this lockout ain't helping and missing rookie ota's, reg ota's, minicamp, etc.
