Q&A with Defensive Back Casey Hayward
Cheesehead TV brings you a Q&A session with Vanderbilt's Casey Hayward back from the NFL Combine.
This Q&A took place at the NFL Combine back in February...
Question: What did you learn at Senior Bowl?
Hayward: “Strengths are just using my instincts, like everybody already knew. Something I need to work on is maybe more man-to-man press. I am not terrible at it, but everybody can still work on things.”
Q: Where do you stack up against other cornerbacks?
Hayward: “I definitely think I am one of the top corners in the draft. My production has shown it. I don’t know how else you can rank it if you are not going to go by production. My production is just as good or better than anybody in this draft.”
Q: How were you able to get 15 interceptions at Vanderbilt?
Hayward: “I definitely say it is kind of natural, and it is about watching film. I guess I watch a lot of film so I kind of know what is going to happen before it comes.”
Q: Why did you choose Vanderbilt?
Hayward: “It was a great academic school and one of my better offers. And you can’t beat having good academics and playing in the SEC every year.”
Q: How is Sean Richardson going to do in the NFL? (Vanderbilt safety)
Hayward: “He is definitely underrated guy. He is going to turn some heads out here with his numbers. I have been playing with this guy for four years and I definitely know what he can do. He is going to surprise some people.’’
Q: Why did you take business classes at Vanderbilt?
Hayward: “I want to own my own business. I took a lot of business classes at Vanderbilt. I want to own a couple of Chick-fil-A restaurants. I eat there a lot. I go there about three times a week.”

It's good to know that if he doesn't make it as a DB, in a couple of years he'll be ready to audition at the FB position. ;)

Oppy, I missed the live blog, do you still hate this draft?

I don't know where you got the idea that I hate this draft, but since you brought it up..
the Packers have now officially squandered 3 chances to get the long snapper of the future.

btw, I'm pretty satisfied with the draft thus far. As always, going to have to wait and see- it's looking like a risk/reward situation with Perry and Worthy, but Hayword sounds like he's a sure thing to be a decent player.

I was teasing because I saw your disdain for the Perry pick. I know you're wise enough to let things unfold. Judge drafts after one full season like me!

not exactly disdain, packsmack. To be honest, I would have been happy if the Packers would have traded up to get him since he was slipping.
I'm just nervous about how he'll fit; but I am more and more comfortable with every passing moment.

Well, if Hayward eats at Chick-Fil-A three times a week, he's going to hate GB. None of those within 500 miles there... it's a southern chain.
