Announced Monday morning.
The NFL Network says that Rodgers has told teammates he does not wish to return to the team.
That meshes with what I’ve thought for a while, that Rodgers has made his decision, and it’s not just about money. I can totally relate to a guy at his age wanting some change in his life....new girlfriend, new home, new professional challenges.....I wish him the best. And I totally understand why the organization doesn’t want to guarantee more money to him.
So Aaron and his sweetie settle in the Denver area where he gets lots of money and adoration. That’s good for them.
The Broncos get a really good QB to help them compete in their division. That’s good for them.
We get some players/picks that make us a stronger overall team. We don’t have 20% of our cap going to one person. That’s good for us.
When one door closes, another one opens.

I know. But they’re still rolling with it on the day of Rodgers big interview. And in one more week....one more week......we’ll be at June 1 where the salary cap hit would be more manageable. Plus, there are team activities where you’d want your leader present that will be taking place.
So, coy silence is not really going to be an option because this thing is coming to a head. The story is “you’ve told your teammates you don’t want to return. True?”..
No, yes, or yes but.

I don't believe the guaranteed money had anything to do with this. They threw millions at #4 to retire.

It also assumes a willingness to trade. Maybe a year on the sofa or casting couch?
If indeed true, I propose a moratorium on the use of the letters “aaron” in that combination and order in any future Packers or football related context. In essence, that that combination simply be written out of history.
Lightning Jones works for me and OFQB for, well, you know. Somehow this seemed an ideal venue to propose that and it is so apropos for the current climate when herstory is unpalatable.
