Long time watcher, first-time poster... Couple of comments on Arod situation.

1- Should be noted there is a conflict of interest in anything Arod says about compensation for the Pack since he would benefit from the Jets keeping picks to make the team better.

2- Imagine whatever the Packers are asking Arod believes he will provide that level of value to the Jets...

That said would it be the worst thing not getting picks this year in what may not be a strong draft class overall? Maybe better to have picks next year when the Packers are emerging from Cap hell and can potentially make a serious run in the coming years...

Thoughts?

With Rodgers behind center for the Jets, I would expect them to make the playoffs and perhaps advance which would mean that a first or seconds round draft pick in 2024 would be a later choice than a 1st/2nd round pick in this year's draft would yield. Also future draft picks are valued lower than current year picks.

Rodgers only won 8 games last year... The Jets are in a much tougher division... I do not think the Jets expectations for AR will be met. Saleh doesn't know offense. Hackett isn't all that.

Take the picks next year...

Future picks are valued less due to recency bias... Take the picks next year and use that bias to extract more of them!

Take the picks next year...

All that points to a post June 1 trade...

That might be what they're arguing about? Maybe Gutey wants '24 picks and the Jets want this done before 1 June?

The more I look at this draft, the less excited I get about the 1st round. Love the 2nd round though. Maybe because we usually draft so late? Even with all the hype the shield can generate, this draft seems very underwhelming, even at 15...

yO BDU,

I don't look at this draft that way at all. It appears more to be a much stronger draft overall, in my eyes. Maybe that's why you're having that reaction, because there are so many players you would likely be thrilled getting #20-50.

It shouldn't diminish some of the great players that will be available high R1 to our #15 range.

I love this draft for us, and I hope we take both the Jets top two picks now, and be done with this AR saga. Get him off the books and start the new era now.

No way do I want to push to June 2nd to get NYJ bottom of each round selections in 2024 and beyond.

Bring dat high heat now!!!

Two things gg...

1st: The highest rated pass rusher right now is Tyree Wilson, who in January was a 3rd or 4th round pick. At least by some people. I think there are some good players at each position, but I don't see a lot of sure fire top ten talent like years past. I think there are probably 10 - 12 blue chip players. (Not counting QBs.)

Darnell Washington who before the combine was rated between 50 - 90 on various boards is now 22 overall according to Daniel Jeremiah. If we are stuck at 15, can't trade back, have to make a pick at 15, I would probably take Washington, and that would probably be a mistake, but Idk...

2. I am sure Gutey will "love" some guys and I'm sure he'll target them like he always does. I know if it goes to 1 June we have at least 9 million more in cap space. If Rodgers were to get hurt, or Jets just don't mesh as a team, those picks could be a lot lower than you are thinking too. If Garrett Wilson were to get hurt, AR12 would have Lazard as his #1 WR again, and we know how that went last year. My point is: We just don't know what Gutey is thinking or wants. We assume it is 13 this year, but he may be asking for 1 and 2 next year and doing the deal in June?

Rodgers won’t necessarily get the Jets to the playoffs. After all, Rodgers & his awful games against the Loins were why the Packers missed the playoffs.

At his age, he’s not getting any better and he’ll have tougher competition in the AFC East. I can see Belichick exploiting Rodgers’ timidity and letting Rodgers defeat himself with sacks, throwaways and incomplete passes to covered receivers. Can Rodgers keep up with Allen & the Bills or a healthy Tua & Tyreek? Doubtful.

Welcome Packfan,
Agree with the first two.

Don't agree with the last. There are many very good players in this years draft & there are some very strong position groups this year such as TE & Edge. The Packers need to get as many top picks in the 2023 draft and they will have one full years experience in the NFL under their belt vs draft picks in 2024. Now is the time to strike & particularly since AR will likely add enough talent at QB to help elevate the Jet's to a much higher # of victories, which has the opposite effect on where the Packer draft pics vis trade end up in each round.

Rodgers isn't the same guy of 12 years ago, let alone 2 years ago.

Only Ayahuasca elevates him.

He and the Jets will be involved in a TSA investigation after the crash they are heading for.

Captain Casual?

Hope he recognizes the importance! He is going to be in a fight for his job with all the new WR's Gutey brings in. Plus, there is this thing called public perception!

Aaron, I thought this was one of your better chat sessions. I enjoyed your take on the negative comments that Pat McAfee made regarding Gutekunst and the likelihood of the Aaron Rodgers influence. Good job overall.

Wow.....can you imagine Jordan Love holding an offseason training session with his receivers/running backs, and this is even without a $60 million guaranteed contract? What the hell is wrong with Jordan Love? Can you imagine that?

He's more than likely just doing it because he can't afford the blackout out vacation yet? This will truly be the summer of Love! The veterans will rally behind him and the young players will run through a wall for him! You will see a new energy in titletown...

As this whole trade thing is extended with no resolution an interesting element is what happens with OBJ, Big Dog, and Cobb? No one probably wants Cobb, but the longer Big Dog holds out hoping the Jets finalize AR's trade the fewer suitors there are going to be for him. If not done soon it is going to negatively affect Big Dog & he knows it. Unless he has a contract done in principal with the Jets he may need to sign elsewhere.

They can add Big Dog the day before the season and he's good. He had 7 targets last year. He knows how to block. He knows the offense. He's old, he doesn't need training camp.

Thanks, Aaron!
