Packers vs. Lions - 2017 Game Predictions from CheeseheadTV.com

 GAME PREDICTIONS - 2017 Week 17

Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions

Name Record   Pick Prediction
Andrew 11-4 Detroit Lions 21-10
This is a battle between two sinking ships and fans should just head for the lifeboats. I'd like to be optimistic here to send the season, but with the injuries to Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson, I'm not feeling it. On to 2018!
Andy 9-6 Tie 12-12
It's only fitting that this season ends with a game consisting of 0 touchdowns and no winners. Plus we get the extra overtime football that none of us are asking for on New Year's Eve. Cheers!
Chris P 10-5 Detroit Lions 20-13
Neither team has much to play for in this one. The Packers can avoid a losing season with a win but that's the only motivation really. Besides guys playing for jobs. Still, the Packers haven't been swept by Detroit in some time, it would be good to avoid that, however, I don't see it happening. Lions win an ugly one.
Chris W 8-7 Green Bay Packers 21-20
Green Bay’s injury report is like a novel, and there’s no reason to think they’ll take a chance with anyone in the final game of the season, meaning a lot of opportunity for less experienced guys. This one could be as exciting as a meaningless week 17 game can be, but I think the Packers do enough to avoid finishing under .500 for the first time since 2008.
Cory 10-5 Detroit Lions 27-20
Mike McCarthy can say that the team isn’t in preseason mode all he wants, but with the majority of the team sitting this one out, it’s hard not to. Brett Hundley has been good on the road but I don’t expect that to continue.
David 11-4 Detroit Lions 27-17
For the first time since 2008 the Packers season will end before the calendar year. Sunday's showdown with Detroit isn't going to go well in terms of win-loss. Still, the Packers could learn a lot about themselves and the young talent that will be given extended looks. Ultimately, this preseason-esque game will go the Lions way.
Elisha 10-5 Detroit Lions 29-16
The Packers will be without approximately 50% of their starters for this one. Winning this game is pointless and could theoretically result in Green Bay dropping to the 19th pick. A loss could potentially net them the 12th pick. I know what I'm rooting for.
Jason 9-6 Detroit Lions 17-10
It can't be a shutout because Brett Hundley is on the road, where he plays his best football for whatever reason.  The Packers don't have much to gain besides learning more about the back half of the roster.  Looking forward to more magic from Michael Clark and perhaps a highlight reel touchdown catch.  Otherwise, this game and season can't end soon enough.
Jersey Al 10-5 Detroit Lions 35-17
Have you seen the Packers' injury report this week? Seriously, who is left to play this game? Hoping another putrid defensive performance will be the final impetus to bring a new defensive voice into the Packers' locker room for next season.
Michelle 9-6 Detroit Lions 17-10
What a difference a year makes. In Week 17 of the 2016 season, the Packers and Lions were duking it out for the NFC North title. In 2017, they're both eliminated from the playoffs and will meet in a meaningless game missing most starters on both sides. The Packers limp to the finish line decimated by injuries, and for that reason, the Lions will probably take this one.
Ross 12-3 Detroit Lions 30-19
It is with great sadness that I take the CHTV pick em’ title for 2017.
Zach 8-7 Detroit Lions 24-13
I’m picking the Packers to lose their season finale in Detroit. But who cares - seeing what you have in your young talent far outweighs a meaningless win or loss at this stage of the season.

It's sad that there will be no playoffs predictions this year - this is it for 2017. Dubious congrats to this year's champ, Ross Uglem, whose goggles were a little less Green and Gold than the rest of us.

Scoring double digits seems ambitious to me, especially with most playmakers watching from the sideline. Let's get the best draft pick possible while giving our young guys a chance to shine.

Lions 24, Packers 9.

Yawn. Who cares. Just want to see the young uns grow. And to lose. Higher draft picks baby...

Hopefully, the Packers send Capers off in a fitting manner, as they shit the bed and blow a 10 point, 4th quarter lead in 3 minutes and lose by 4.

Lay A Brick For Picks.

Spam ford will light us up! Defense will be on their heels with no answers. Offense will show up for one possession maybe. Final score: lions 38- 6. Four division losses. Capers gone for sure. TT to follow, with MM out too.

Hey Bearmeat, you golf?

Was hoping that Lions had something to play for so our young guys would get more intense game experience, but this could be ugly. Might as well open up entire playbook MM. No need to worry about leaving anything on film. Who knows someone may have a breakout game and we can have something positive to talk about over the winter.

I predict we have only 60 more minutes of watching Dom Capers be the Packers DC.

Like '61 I will never root for the Packers to lose. That said, if it GUARRANTEED Capers was fired, I wouldn't "mind" if they play hard and lose this one. Sigh. :(

Tundraboy's picture

I think a lot of us feel that way if it included MM as well.
I'm all for that. I don't think they will get rid of MM, but at the same time I'm pretty sick of the last few years where I think he just basically hoped that Capers would have been able to scrape by and get us one more championship and he would let Capers leave with dignity. Problem is MM wasted 3 or 4 years trying that plan and failed. That is all on him. Even if Rodgers did not go down this year does anyone really believe we could win it all with the defense the way it is.

I will be hoping for the Packers to win so that I don't need to wait until September 2018 to enjoy a Packers victory again. Having said that this game is nothing more than a glorified exhibition game and brings me back to all the meaningless seasons between 1968 and 1992 when the Packers wallowed through the NFL wilderness. Impossible to predict a game like this.

Regardless of today's result the Packers are at a crossroads during this offseason. IMO, they have started in a positive direction by extending both D. Adams and Linsley. Big decisions still need to made concerning coaching changes, at least Capers, and which remaining Packer FAs to resign. This year's years draft will be critical along with any FA signings to bolster the roster.

As for today's game, I'm going with a futile battle of FGs.
Crosby for the win in OT!!! Packers 18 - 15. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

Lions will move with ease through Dom's swan song "defense".

Hundley throws 3 picks and gets knocked out of the game in the 3rd quiarter and we all get to see Callahan throw another before the clock mercifully hits 00:00.

Detroit 38 - 20

So many of these predictions included multi-touchdown games.
