Packers vs. Cardinals Game Predictions from CheeseheadTV.com

 GAME PREDICTIONS Week 16

Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Name Record   Pick Prediction
Nagler 8-6 Green Bay Packers 24-23
No one expects the Packers to win this game, their number one corner and starting left tackle are most likely out, and the offense hasn't looked right in months. It's bleak for the Green and Gold heading into Arizona, which is usually when McCarthy does his best work. The Packers pull off a bit of a shocker.
Czech 10-4 Arizona Cardinals 30-17
It'd be hard enough to keep up with the Cardinals speed if Sam Shields was playing. With Shields likely out...yikes. Arizona will be missing Tyrann Mathieu, but the Packers don't have the horses on offense to take advantage of it.
Bracco 10-4 Green Bay Packers 33-31
The Packers under Mike McCarthy have underachieved against bad teams but also often pull a surprise when there is no reason to believe they will. The Packers defense steps up in the 4th quarter and Air McCarthy makes a comback to put enough late points up on the board to win a shootout in the desert before a very Pro-Packers crowd.
Tallitsch 9-5 Green Bay Packers 34-24
The people on social media won't have much left to complain about after this one. The Packers take it and take it soundly.
Garda 9-5 Arizona Cardinals 27-17
Sorry kids, but at least maybe I will be reverse-jinxing the Packers. The problems I see here for the Packers would be two-fold. First, the offense has been so inconsistent, which makes it really hard for me to see the Packers making a ton of headway against a very tough defense—even without Tyrann Mathieu. Secondly, while the secondary has played well at times and the front seven can get push, how do you stop a four-headed monster at wide receiver? Add to it that the Packers run defense is not fantastic and rookie David Johnson is on a tear and I just don't know how the defense stop Arizona.
Behnke 10-4 Green Bay Packers 60-0
Packers roll.
Jennerjohn 9-5 Arizona Cardinals 27-23
This game comes down to the offensive line. With Don Barclay likely starting at left tackle, look for the Packers to run plenty of rollouts or shotguns to mitigate the average offensive lineman’s ability. The Packers must get back to basics and establish the run. The only way Green Bay wins this game is if it can move the chains and keep Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown and Michael Floyd off the field. (Which, ironically, is exactly what teams were doing to the Packers prior to this season)..
Perone 8-6 Arizona Cardinals 27-13
This is not a good matchup for the Packers in any phase.  Arizona's passing game gashes the Pack early on and the run game takes over to finish them off.  Offensively, I see the Packers having a very difficult time producing.  Green Bay has to play a perfect game from start to finish to even have a chance and that's always a lot to ask.
Snowden 10-4 Green Bay Packers 28-27
Arizona should roll over the Packers; better record, better team, playing at home. But like the Packers, Arizona's play can be spotty. So this score is hoping that the team that played the Vikings two weeks ago is the team that the Packers will face on Sunday, as opposed to the team that beat up on the Eagles last week.
Albrecht 8-6 Arizona Cardinals 27-13
The Packers have the talent for an upset win if they would only play up to their potential for a full four-quarters.  A big if.  But competing against the most complete team in the league with a first-round playoff bye within reach the Cardinals should have their way with a banged-up inconsistent Packers squad.
Reuter 9-5 Arizona Cardinals 28-27
I really want to say the Packers win this one and in my head I think they do. But I also don't feel like I'm going to be upset if they lose, which usually means I deep down I don't think they're going to win.
Olson 9-5 Arizona Cardinals 28-17
Even without Tyrann Mathieu, the Packers offense will still probably struggle against the aggressive Cardinals defense. Also, even if the Packers defense plays well (tough task), they probably won't get much help from the offense.
Hobbes 10-4 Green Bay Packers 21-17
Not really sure how the Packers are gonna win....it's a Christmas miracle!
Strupp 8-6 Arizona Cardinals 17-13
Offense struggles, home field helps the Cardinals. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone on CHTV land.
Kruse 9-5 Arizona Cardinals 35-24
Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians will push the Packers defense past its breaking point. And this Green Bay offense isn't capable of taking part (or winning) in a shootout.

No Shields means this game went from a really tall order to a giant order. The only way they win is if it's one of those MM/AR "No one respects us" shockers.

I don't think GB has the talent on O to do that this year.

Arizona Rolls. :(

That's the sensible logical way to look at it, but nothing about the team this year is logical. Hoping of course for a miracle turnaround.

This is a Tough game to analyze. Most fans are talking like AZ is the Best Thing since Sliced Bread. Maybe they are right?, but the number on this game is 49 1/2. That's a lot of points, basically 50. That would seem to indicate a Blow out by AZ.

The line however is only 4 1/2, 4 if you are betting AZ. That doesn't look like a Blow Out by AZ to me. Something doesn't add up here. I've got to say this one has me stumped.

I would never bet GB getting 4 1/2 Pt's, maybe in NE. This one doesn't look right to me. I'm trying to make an Educated Guess here. With a 50 number, if AZ was that good, I would think the line would be 6 1/2 or 7

It does not say that Bak is out. Either the Number on the game is wrong, or the line is. I won't like it if Bak can't play, but from what I see here, I think GB makes a game of this. Something doesn't look right to me. I hope I'm seeing this right. I want to go against the grain here, (Money). I think the Grain is with AZ. The only time GB wins getting Pt's, is when they don't have a chance. This could be one of those games. I hope I'm not wrong. I lean towards GB getting Pt's, which is something I would almost never consider. This game is confusing to me. Hope I've got it figured right. Go Pack!! LVT

There are a boatload of Packers fans here for the game. The wife and I have been playing Punch Packer (similar to Punchbuggy), and my arm is sore.

A win tomorrow could signal a resurgence, since the offense will need to be on their game to win. I think the Cards take this one rhough, 23-13. Good news is there will likely be a rematch in 3 weeks.

I'm going w/ AZ unfortunately to, but thinking more like 31-24. I agree w/ a likely rematch in 3 wks. Could have had tix to this game, but waiting for the playoff rematch to commit to going.

Jordy Nelson tells coach he is ready to play and scores a touchdown on the first play. Offense is fired up. Arizona can't seem to get it's offense in gear. Defense sacks Palmer 4 times in 1st qtr. Setting up a Packer blowout.

Oh - to dream!

If they keep it close, it will be a good sign they could compete and MAYBE go far into the playoffs. An Arizona blowout and I end the football season early and start following basketball and hockey.

Some of them picked the Cards.
Some of them picked the Pack.

So the Patriots, Steelers or the Lions win this game in your unicorn world?

You part of the Islamic State or something? Maybe they beheaded you.

Cow, there are lots of other barn yard animals you could use for a handle. I really think you should change your name to "chicken".

In the two games Arizona lost, the Rams and Steelers both had over 100 yards rushing and did not turn the ball over.

The two QBs who won? Nick Foles and Landry Jones.

The Rams traveled to AZ and forced 3 Cardinals turnovers (2 fumbles, 1 pick). It's not like Nick Foles or his wide receivers are world beaters, but they got the job done, so why can't Aaron Rodgers and his WRs?

I'm still picking AZ to win because Sam Shields and David Bakhtiari mean more to the Packers than Tyrann Mathieu does to Arizona. Barclay will need help from a TE or RB as he has shown in the past.

The Packers have been way too inconsistent in the run and pass game to magically wake up and win. They have the potential to win, but as the saying goes, potential is like popcorn -- it doesn't mean much if it doesn't pop.

The Cards being without Mathieu is a big deal he sets up the defense, Lacy will run well , has Cow ever picked the Packers? He will root for hard for the Cards so the Pack won't win the North over his Vikings.

I actually live in Phx and Mathieu doesn't set up the D, that's Rashad Johnson.

Per Jurecki the Cards best beat writer. Rashad Johnson is the brains of the Defense. He gets everyone lined up.

This game is about which team is willing to play for improved seeding. The Cards have wrapped up their division. How hard will they play for the #2 seed. As for the Packers they can win their division today with a win over AZ plus a Viking loss against the Giants today. However due to the Eagles loss last evening the Giants are eliminated from the playoffs. So the division will likely be determined by the Packers vs. the Vikings next week. The Vikings don't play until after the Packers game is over. So how hard do the Packers play? We'll find out. Either way I'm taking the Pack 28-20. Thanks, Since '61

Arizona blitzes more than any team in the NFL. This would be a nice upset if Green Bay runs that killer screen game. If Lacy rolls like he did against Dallas....the Pack could steal this one.

Absolutely correct. With the amount AZ blitzes, this should be the game the Packers make heavy use of the screen game. Nothing slows a pass rush quite like a few big screen passes, w/ the possible exception of a great running game.

Shields and possibly Bahktiari. Shields hurts the pass D against one of the best passing attacks. Matthieu hurts AZ but they have Peterson, likely the best lockdown CB in the NFL. I thought the line was too low all along. I'm thinking 31-24.

That line should have been 6 or 7 to begin with. Vegas had that line all week at 4 - 4 1/2 for a reason?? Normally this would tell you that a Ton of money has shown up for AZ. If this wasn't GB, I'd have No Problem picking AZ. Something strange here. I hope I'm right & I'm staying with my original pick of GB. This is pretty much a SB for GB. I think MM will go all out to win this thing for that 2ond seed. If I'm wrong, it won't be the 1st or last time. Go Pack!! LVT

I think Vegas fooled a lot of people on this one, maybe me included. 7 of 10 Handicappers out here are picking GB to win this thing at +4 1/2. If I go down, I'm going down with some Heavy Hitters.LVT
