Packers Throw Out Ceremonial First Pitch At Brewers Home Opener

Eleven members of the world champion Green Bay Packers threw out the first pitch at Miller Park on Monday.

MILWAUKEE––Roughly two months after winning the Super Bowl, eleven members of the world champion Green Bay Packers had the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch Monday at the Milwaukee Brewers home opener.

In front of the second-largest crowd in Miller Park history, the Packers may have gotten the loudest ovation of the day when they lined up in front of the pitching mound being cheered on by 46,017 people.

"It kind of goes to show you that Wisconsin sport fans are phenomenal: football baseball, I was out here for hockey, soccer, and there's no let up," said linebacker Desmond Bishop speaking about other public appearances he's made since winning the Super Bowl. "Wisconsin fans are the best."

Bishop was joined by Tramon Williams, John Kuhn, Nick Collins, Jordy Nelson, Ryan Grant, Bryan Bulaga, Andrew Quarless, Tim Masthay, Frank Zombo and Tom Crabtree.

All eleven players threw out the first pitch in unison to eleven members of the Brewers. Appropriately, they threw gold-colored balls, symbolizing the first-place finish they recently accomplished.

"They gave us nice pretty gold balls, and we was able to throw them back into the stands to some fans, so that was awesome," said cornerback Tramon Williams.

Safety Nick Collins, who said he has a background in baseball growing up, wasn't nervous.

"No nerves, no panic, no flinching or nothing," said Collins. "Just go out there. I just come natural to me. I played at the age of six, so it's nothing new to me."

Collins and the rest of teammates were surprised when they were met with a congratulatory handshake from Atlanta Braves outfielder Eric Hinske, the Brewers' opponent that day, a native of Menasha, Wis.

"It was a blessing just to be here," said Collins, "to get the opportunity just to meet with some of the guys."
