The Packers promoted JuWaan Winfree from the Practice Squad to the active roster to replace Malik Taylor, who was placed on the Covid Reserve List.  As a Covid replacement player, Winfree can be promoted from the Practice Squad two more times.  Vernon Scott, Jack Heflin and Isaiah McDuffie were healthy scratches and the other inactive players were Kevin King (injury) and Dennis Kelly (illness).

The offensive line started slowly with Jenkins allowing an early sack by Robert Quinn.  Jenkins seemed to settle in after that.  The line had some difficulty opening holes for the running backs.  Dillon finished the first half with 5 carries for 34 yards, but 36 yards came on one run, leaving a net of -2 yards for his other 4 carries.  Jones carried the ball 7 times for 30 yards with a long of 8 yards in the first half.  The Packers persevered with the run to finish with 135 yards on 24 carries by the running backs (a 5.6 yard average).  Aaron Rodgers added 17 yards on 3 carries, including a touchdown.  The offensive line again was pretty good as pass blockers, allowing 6 pressures on 28 passing attempts, per Pro Football Focus.  Aaron Jones added 4 receptions on 4 targets for 34 yards and a touchdown to finish with 110 yards from scrimmage.  On the touchdown reception, Jones caught a check down pass that looked like it would go for a short gain and made a defender miss allowing him to score a big touchdown.

David Bakhtiari is eligible to return from the PUP List now, though it is unknown whether he is ready to return.  With the return of Elgton Jenkins as well, it will be interesting to see where Jenkins lines up in future.  Center Josh Myers left the game after just 4 snaps and did not return.  Coach LaFleur has consistently indicated that the Packers will play their five best offensive linemen, which probably should not include RG Royce Newman.  The rookie has battled and looks like he can play in the NFL, but like Runyan, perhaps a year of coaching would be beneficial to him.

The Packers played 1.58 Tight Ends per play against the Bears, in part to assist the offensive line against a very good Bears front 7.  It probably makes sense for Marcedes Lewis to get the most snaps.  Lewis caught 2 passes on 2 targets for 17 yards in the second half while Robert Tonyan caught 2 of 3 targets for 10 yards in the first half.  Josiah Deguara played 15 snaps and caught his only targeted pass for 4 yards.

Davante Adams caught 4 of 5 targets for 89 yards (a whopping 17.8 yards/target) and Allen Lazard chipped in 3 receptions on 5 targets for 27 yards (5.4 yards/target).  Amari Rodgers caught his only target for 14 yards and an important first down.  Cobb (23 snaps) and St. Brown (12 snaps) were not targeted.  St. Brown threw a beautifully timed block on the reception to Amari Rodgers and added two tackles on special teams.  Amari Rodgers returned 2 punts for 16 yards with a long of 16 yards.  Aaron Rodgers finished with a 128.0 passer rating.

When Preston Smith left the game after only 8 snaps due to an Oblique injury, fans probably wondered where the pass rush would come from, especially since the Packers were without their top two cornerbacks.  The Packers got it from Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark, Dean Lowry and Jonathan Garvin.  Per PFF, Gary had 4 pressures in 33 pass rushing opportunities, along with 4 solo tackles (3 stops) and a QB hit.  Clark had a big game with back-to-back sacks, 3 solo tackles, and 2 tackles for loss.  Lowry had 5 tackles (4 solo), 1 sack, another QB hit, and a tackle for loss.  Garvin had 2 solo tackles, 1 sack, another QB hit, and a tackle for loss.  The Packers held Justin Fields to a 75 passer rating, though Fields added 43 rushing yards on 6 carries.

The Bears were able to run the ball.  Their third-string running back gained 97 yards on 19 carries with a long of 25 despite their suspect offensive line.  Fields added 43 more yards.  De'Vondre Campbell had 6 tackles (4 solo) and Rasul Douglas added 5 solo tackles.  Henry Black had 4 solo tackles while being picked on in coverage.  Keke had 3 solo tackles and Slaton, in just 7 snaps, had one solo tackle.  Jaylon Smith made his debut and contributed a missed tackle. 

Yiadom played 9 snaps before it became apparent that he was a complete liability in coverage.  Rasul Douglas replaced him and was active and physical.  Chandon Sullivan had a nice game in coverage allowing 0 completions on 3 targets, per PFF.  Despite some issues, the cornerbacks allowed 69 yards and 6 completions on 11 targets.  Savage left the game with an possible concussion.  

While it is true that the Bears do not have a good offense and Justin Fields needs time, the Packers were playing without 5 preferred starters by the second half: ZaDarius Smith, Preston Smith, Kevin King, Darnell Savage, and Jaire Alexander.  The defense gave up 14 points on the road to earn another win.

The special teams coverage units looked shaky.  The Bears returned 3 kickoffs that looked like they might go a long way but for a saving tackle and they had a long punt return negated by a penalty that did not affect the long run.  Still, Crosby made all of his attempts and Bojorquez boomed some punts, including an 82-yarder that went for a touchback.
