Turner caught 17 passes for 256 yards and one touchdown for the Seahawks last season.

Thought he was a good player at Illinois, he was always productive with pretty average to poor QB play. Many in Seattle thought his arrow was pointing up...

Signing Turner is pretty much just an admission that the Packers have little confidence in the likes of ESB, MVS, Kumerow, Begelton, etc. They're just praying to catch lightning in a bottle with another late round / undrafted / practice squad sort of guy.

You sign a player because you are confident they can contribute......

You sign a player because you are confident they can contribute...... at least a little bit better than the other schleps who are on the roster.

How good do you really have to be to bump Kumerow off the squad? Not very.

Again, 12 personel is the base now...meaning in many cases if not most, there will be only 2 WR on the field. Adams/Lazard, Adams/MVS or Eq or Turner. In many cases, the 3rd WR will be Aaron Jones after he motions out of the backfield. Also when you have an elite #1 WR that guy eats up targets. Same is true with Juilo Jones, and Thomas in New Orleans.

"Again, 12 personnel is the base now..."

It depends on how you define "12" and what you mean by base. Last season the Packers, who won 13 games, played 60% of their snaps--same as league average--out of 11 personnel. Was that accomplished because Jimmy Graham didn't play with his hand on the ground a lot? Probably had a lot to do with it, but keep in mind that in terms of snaps played by Graham (58%) and Lewis (45%), there were still a lot of snaps with only 1 TE on the field. Only 5 teams in the league played less than half their snaps out of 11 personnel. 11 is the coin of the realm...until proven otherwise. Frankly, I don't care what personnel groups they run, so long as they can move the football and score points.

Yes they did, but that was the transition year of the offense. In year 2 you will see the full Lefleur offense. atleast 50% out of 12 or 22 personel looks.

Would be true if not for the virus. Still, I expect more 12 if they play. And picking up veterans who know pro systems makes sense, giving the fact the season could stop at any moment, and gives MLF the flex to move into more 11....

Not to mention that my original comment had nothing to do with personnel groupings anyway. However MLF decides to line them up, signing Malik Turner has rather little to do with how good Turner is, and a whole lot more to do with how much those other guys suck. If the Packers were as gung ho on the bottom of the WR depth chart as people want to believe, they would not have bothered signing Turner or Fulham, neither of whom have done jack in the NFL.

Brandon Marshall, Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, Tom Fears, Antonio Brown and Clark Gaines have each recorded as many or more receptions in a SINGLE GAME than both Malik Turner and Travis Fulgham combined have recorded in their entire careers. And Brandon Marshall did it twice.

But yeah, super pumped to get these guys on the roster.

Oh come on, you are not that clueless. Teams pick up players to fit their system. With the season on the brink it makes sense to sign veterans. If you want the west coast go follow Dallas....
