Packers Sign Sherrod

#Packers have completed negotiations with first-round pick Derek Sherrod. Source said he's on his way over to Lambeau to sign as we speak.
Tom Silverstein has the numbers:
Derek Sherrod four-year, $6.6 M contract that includes $5.32 M in grnteed money, a NFL source said.
Under the new rookie salary system, all first round contracts are four year deals with a club option for a fifth year.
The only unsigned draft pick now is third rounder Alex Green.

OK -- so we're waiting on Alex Green and Davon House ??
I noticed on packers.com that we signed "Peanut"'s brother (Elisha Joseph) and Chris Donaldson, a 6-1,300# DE from OK State.

So with the last two undrafted guys, I've got a total of 84 (which counts ERFAs Briggs/Havner/Swain, but does not count unsigned UFAs

saw tonight on ESPN that Cam Newton took $28 million less than Sam Bradford last year. That number is mind boggling.

If you break Sam's down to a 4 year that's true, but he signed a 6 year $78 mill contract... Cam 4 at $22... glad those days are behind us. This shit's nice.

Ah, the rookie wage scale. We'll see less and less 1st rounds busts each and every year. At least there won't be any worry of guys getting paid and shutting down. They won't get paid till their 4th year.

So nice to see some of those troublemaker agents and associated unwanted drama taken out of the rookie signing process.
Somewhat unrelated, any speculation if new wage scale will have an affect on college players choice to enter draft early?

No, the drama has just moved to the second contract, and in a big way. We'll see how this shakes out. You could argue that money spent on an agent for the rookie contract is almost wasted money. It's the second deal where the agent will earn his keep. It'll be interesting to see how this affects the agents' industry.

Second deal you know what you have. Either the player has leverage (played well) or he doesn't (played poorly). Before, teams had to commit to buttloads of money for guys they projeced to be good or bad.
Of course, this doesn't necessarily helps the Packers, as with TT we rarely made big mistakes with expensive rookies. But for the bums like the Bengals and Raiders, it's a life saver.

Yep. It's sorta like fewer carappy odds scratch-off lotto tickets any of the teams are often practically forced to buy every late summer.
