Packers Sign Nine Players to Reserve/Future Contracts

Wide receiver Myles White leads a list of players that spent time on the Packers practice squad in 2014.

The Green Bay Packers signed nine of ten players from their practice squad to reserve/future contracts on Tuesday, according to the league's transaction wire.

Those players included:

  • Wide receiver Myles White: White caught nine passes for 66 yards in 2013 for the Packers but spent his 2014 campaign on the team's practice squad.
  • Running back Rajion Neal: Neal had five carries for 39 yards and a touchdown in the preseason with the Packers before suffering a knee injury. He was later signed at midseason to the practice squad.
  • Linebacker Adrian Hubbard: Hubbard made three tackles and two sacks with the Packers in the preseason before spending the entire regular season on the team's practice squad.
  • Linebacker Joe Thomas: Thomas made one tackle in the preseason with the Packers before suffering a knee injury. Like Neal, he was signed to the practice squad at midseason.
  • Offensive lineman Jeremy Vujnovich: Vujnovich spent training camp with the Packers before staying the entire 2014 season on the practice squad.
  • Offensive lineman Joe Madsen: Madsen was the most-recent addition to the Packers practice squad, signed on Jan. 3, after spending the 2014 season in the Arena Football League.
  • Defensive back Tay Glover-Wright: The Packers signed Glover-Wright to the practice squad on Oct. 6 after spending training camp with the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Safety Jean Fanor: Fanor was signed to the Packers practice squad on Dec. 17 after spending the 2013 and 2014 seasons in the Arena Football League.
  • Offensive lineman Josh Walker: Walker was added to the Packers practice squad on Sept. 23 afte rspending training camp with the Indianapolis Colts.

The only player the Packers did not sign from their practice squad was wide receiver Alex Gillett, who was signed to the practice squad for a second consecutive season on Nov. 11. Gillett caught six passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in the preseason.

I dunno why we still have Myles White. I'm sure he's a great man, but I just cannot see how he's worth a roster spot over players like Hubbard, or even Carl Bradford. We have too many Wide Receivers for our own good, and White seems to have the lowest ceiling out of them. Everything else I like though.

White didn't get a roster spot over players like Hubbard or Bradford. In fact, Bradford got a roster spot over White this past season.

R. Neal is a good back and would have taking Harris spot if he didn't get hurt. Also the same for Joe thomas who plays very fast. But we need get Bulaga and cobb signed. Definitely Bulaga to keep that offensive line together to protect A-rod and open them gaps for our running backs.

I'd probably put Cobb slightly ahead of Bulaga in terms of priority - probably 1A and 1B. I expect both to be back, though. It's TT's whole modus operandi.
