Packers sign Linebacker Folston and Cornerback Kalili
The packers added a linebacker and cornerback to their roster today.

With two roster spots open after the release of running back Darrin Hall and safety Josh Jones, GM Brian Gutekunst wasted little time filling those slots. Signed to the roster were Linebacker James Floston Jr. and Cornerback Jocquez Kilili.
Folston, a 6'3" 240 lb linebacker, was mostly a reserve defensive end at the University of Pittsburgh. Folston was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an Undrafted Free Agent before being released and also spent some time with the Tennessee Titans. Folston is the son of James Folston, who spent eight years in the NFL, also as a linebacker. As had been Gutekunst's modus operandi, he's brought in another player with impressive athletic measurables.
If these times hold, this is a pretty impressive #RAS from Pittsburgh's James Folston. pic.twitter.com/zlFvMurtbZ

Kalili, a 5'10" 180lb cornerback from UNLV, was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an Unsigned Free Agent but waived in the first week of training camp. Kalili was known for his hard hits, earning him the nickname, "the missle."

Folston was listed at 245 last year, 233 at his pro day and 250 by the Cardinals earlier this summer. I did find the following comment on his pro day.
“Playing defensive end wasn’t going to work at the next level for Pittsburgh defender James Folston at 6-3, 233 pounds, so he tested as a linebacker and did quite well for himself. Folston jumped a 40.5-inch vertical and ran a 6.80-second 3-cone, both of which would have topped all linebackers at the combine. His 10-foot-9 broad jump would have earned second-best for linebackers, while his 4.19-second 20-yard shuttle would have come in eighth. Playing at 245 pounds as part of a defensive line rotation, Folston managed 15 tackles and three quarterback hits.
He is transitioning from DE, but to what kind of ILB I have no idea. Presumably not a Burks/Bolton type though.

Precious little about there on Kalili beyond what Al mentioned. He was originally a walk on RB before converting to DB.
From his pro day: UNLV CB Jocquez Kalili
5-10 3/8, 185
4.34-4.41
L: 6.9
3: 4.1
Vert: 36.5
Broad: 10’3

Those measurables look good. But wasn't good enough to last with the Cardinals

Why not try out some other guys if your sure of some the guys on the roster that are going to get cut? I think it's a decent idea.

Agree entirely. Work your board. There could be a lot of activity this week.

Wonder if the Colts have a decent ILB they’d be willing to trade for Kizer?

Not even the colts would want Kizer.

We still have 10 days until we play a game that counts. You can always use a guy who can cover.
We’re rarely going to have more than 1ILB on the field, and that’s going to be Martinez. So I’m not overly concerned unless Martinez gets hurt.
