Packers shutting down Lambeau Field for two weeks

The team is acting out of an abundance of caution to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.

The Green Bay Packers announced earlier this evening that they will be closing all operations at Lambeau Field for the next two weeks out of an abundance of caution to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.

From the team:

The closure will apply to all Lambeau Field Atrium businesses, including the Packers Pro Shop, Packers Hall of Fame and 1919 Kitchen & Tap, as well as all team-run public activities in Titletown, including the playground and 46 Below. After monitoring the coronavirus developments over the last few days, the organization made the decision with public safety and community well-being in mind. "Our priority is the health and safety of our staff and visitors," said Packers/President and CEO Mark Murphy. "This is a decision we made with all due consideration, and we feel it is an important step to take in helping mitigate the spread of the virus." The organization will continue to monitor the situation and reassess conditions near the end of this two-week window.

The decision to shut down Lambeau Field for 2 weeks is prudent and in everyone's best interest at this time.

The Governor today declared a public health emergency in Wisconsin.

UW Madison is curtailing " in person classes ".

UW Milwaukee has extended it's Spring Break and is considering, or perhaps implemented, other steps to inhibit the spread of the virus.

Numerous sports and entertainment venues nation-wide have cancelled events.

So the Green Bay Packers have likewise acted responsibly and in the communities' best interests by voluntarily shutting down Lambeau Field at this time.

Hopefully in 2 weeks the facilities can re-open and their normal events and activities resume.

Stay at home everyone.

Work from home if you have the privilege. Educate yourself. Lookup "Social Distancing" to find out why.
