Packers Question of the day - Who did Enough?

The 2016 preseason is in the books for the Packers and they capped it off with a 3-1 record. Falling only in their finale to the Chiefs in Kansas City.

Several players were in contention for a roster spot. Kentrell Brice, Geronimo Allison, Robertson Daniel to name a few. We'll find out whether or not their dreams truly came to fruition this Saturday at 3 PM CT when rosters have to be trimmed to 53 players.

Who do you think was on the bubble, but last night, did enough to potentially secure thier spot on the Packers' final roster?

Well Last night wasn't a great night for lasting impressions.
I'm sure a few guys wish they would have had better nights.

But a couple of guys I thought possibly earned roster spots that didn't have a spot locked up.
-Josh Hawkins. I think he will be the 5th CB.
-Jacob Schum. He had some really nice punts. I thought he was an upgrade over Masthay and Mortell.

I like Hawkins. I expect him to sneak into the corner group at least until Goodson comes off suspension and hopefully after if he does well filling Goodsons special team role.

Hawkins and Brice are going to bring a huage amount of upside. The Packers secondary is SO much more athletic than two seasons ago.

Pretty much what you said, punter was much improved over what we had. Also to me Abbey is on the 53 to me there is no doubt about his play.

I was impressed by Daniel. I thought he had a physical presence and good awareness. If he doesn't end up with the Packers I think he lands on someone else's 53. I was not impressed with Gatewood.

Agreed on Schum. Good night. One hang-time at 5.09.

Brice is on the 53. He just showed too much the last month to be released.

I thought Robertson Daniel showed he is a legit starter. Speed, length they love, and instincts. I think they make room for him on the 53 by going thin at another spot. (RB, TE or ILB)

Not sure on Hawkins. Less impressed by him then most and with Daniel also at CB I don't see how he finds the roster. Unless, they decide to go with only two RBs or decide ILB is good at 3 with Burnett/Brice being the emergency 4th.

If Brice isn't on the 53 (barring injury status), I'll be absolutely shocked. Frankly, I'd take him over Banjo, though I'm sure they'll keep both.

I really wish Allison could have stood out more, but my gut says he won't make the 53.

Bradford has been flying to ball, and has solid tackling form. He definitely makes it in my book.

We found our new punter.

My Roster Locks:

QB: (2)

<> A.Rodgers
<> B.Hundley - sounds like his ankle will be okay enough to allow him to play next week if he were needed

RB: (4) - need 1

<> E.Lacy
<> J.Starks
<> A.Ripkowski

WR: (6)

<> J.Nelson
<> R.Cobb
<> D.Adams
<> T.Montgomery
<> J.Abbrederis
<> J.Janis

TE: (3) - need 1

<> J.Cook
<> R.Rodgers

OL: (8) - Need 1 and perhaps 2 temporarily because Linsley's return may bump the total number to 9.

<> B.Bulaga
<> D.Bakhtiari
<> J.Sitton
<> TJ.Lang
<> JC.Tretter
<> J.Spriggs
<> D.Barclay
* C.Linsley - Regular Season PUP

DL: (6) - need 1 or 2 while Pennel is out

<> L.Guion
<> K.Clark
<> M.Daniels
<> D.Lowry
* M.Pennel - 4-game ban.

LB: (10) - need 4

<> D.Jones - will also see time at defensive end.
<> J.Peppers
<> N.Perry
<> K.Fackrell
<> C.Matthews
<> B.Martinez

DB: (10) - need 3

<> S.Shields
<> D.Randall
<> Q.Rollins
<> J.Hawkins
<> M.Hyde
<> HH.Clinton-Dix
<> M.Burnett

Special: (3) - need 1 LS

<> M.Crosby
<> J.Schum

>< An extra guy or two will be carried early on given Pennel and Linsley's absences, but who they are and where they'll provide depth is unclear... maybe its at QB, WR, OL, DL, LB, or DB.

My Bubble Guys:

QB:

<> J.Callahan - Based on Hundley's condition I think the team elects to try getting him onto the practice squad allowing them to carry two QB onto the 53-man roster.

RB:

<> B.Burks - I don't think the team cares for how he holds the football; therefore, I'm thinking the team may elect to bring in a waived RB to be the #3 guy on the 53-man roster (B.Sankey?). Maybe they look at Burks as a practice squad guy, but it's still possible that either he or Ross end up as the #3 on the 53-man roster.
<> B.Ross - Probably competing with Burks for a practice squad spot.

WR:

<> T.Davis - I think he gets IR'd allowing him to use this year to build up his body and further develop his receiving skills, but of course it's possible they carry him onto the roster with one of the extra slots made available.
<> G.Allison - I think he's targeted for the practice squad.

TE:

<> J.Perillo - If his knee is truly okay he's probably a lock for the 53-man roster.

OL:

<> K.Murphy - He probably makes the 53 because he's a draft pick, but he needs to show improvement in case he's called-on to fill-in during the season.
<> L.Taylor - His final preseason performance was fairly ugly and I haven't heard too many positives on him from camp; therefore, I'm not sure the team elects to carry him on their 53-man roster again and since he doesn't have practice squad eligibility his Packer career could potentially be over. So do the Packers carry him onto their 53, look to the waiver wire for veteran interior depth, or do they go with only 8 O-linemen until Linsley can return from the PUP?
<> L.Patrick - He might be practice squad bound... maybe.

DL:

<> C.Ringo - His up and down camp may very well have been good enough to earn him a spot on the 53-man roster, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Packers shopping the waiver wire for early season DL depth (T.Knighton?). He does have practice squad eligibility left so the team has options in how they can hold onto him.
<> B.Price - He might have done enough to make the 53-man roster, but he just as well could be headed to the practice squad.
<> T.Kuder - I don't think he's done enough to earn a spot on the 53, but depending on whether they carry both the other guys or if one of them gets snatched up by another team they may elect to get him onto their practice squad.

LB:

<> J.Elliot - Does he make the 53 or get IR'd? Tough to say as we don't really know the condition of his injury, but as of now I'll guess that they carry him onto the 53-man roster.
<> R.Gilbert - I think he's targeted for the practice squad; though, if Elliot is IR'd he's got a shot at making the 53.
<> S.Barrington - He probably makes the 53 since I haven't heard any news regarding the team shopping him, but I suppose he could yet be a real surprise cut.
<> J.Ryan - looked very rusty, but I don't see the team giving up on him so he'll probably make the 53 unless he suffered some kind of surprise injury during that last preseason game that would allow the Packers to IR him.
<> J.Thomas - Will they IR him, carry him on the 53 despite his calf, or cut him? He's probably the biggest question mark on the whole team, but I believe they still like what he was able to demonstrate during camp more than what Bradford showed so I'm going to guess they won't cut him. They'll either carry him onto the 53 with the knowledge that he may not be able to contribute right away due to his calf injury or they'll simply IR him. As of now I'm going to guess he gets carried onto the 53.
<> C.Bradford - He still has practice squad eligibility, but will he get through waivers? There's still a really good chance he makes the 53, but as of right now my guess is that the team elects to carry other bubble guys instead while hoping they can retain him on the practice squad.

DB:

<> C.Banjo - If his injury isn't serious he'll make the 53-man roster; however, if his injury is truly concerning perhaps they elect to IR him. I don't see them cutting him outright.
<> K.Brice - If he hadn't gotten banged up during the last preseason game he would have been a lock for the 53-man roster. As it is I still don't really see him not making the 53-man roster unless they discover something bad about the way he got hurt during the game.
<> D.Goodson - His 4-game ban will allow the team to postpone making a final decision on him until later.
<> L.Gunter - He's another one of these near locks to make the 53-man roster, but there was some pretty fierce competition in the defensive backfield this year; nevertheless, I'm guessing he's done enough to have earned a spot.
<> M.Evans - Showed well enough to suggest he might be deserving of a roster spot, but it'll probably depend on the health of Banjo more than anything; otherwise, I see him as a pretty good practice squad candidate.
<> R.Daniel - Put up a nice battle between Gunter and Hawkins, but probably didn't do enough to get over either of them. I think he has more upside than Gunter and it's possible that the team goes an extra guy deep at DB which might allow him to make the 53, but unless the team elects to carry him over Evans in the event Banjo goes on IR it's kind of hard to see a scenario where he makes the 53 along with the rest. Perhaps the practice squad is where he'll end up as long as nobody else snatches him first.
<> M.Dorleant - He's probably targeted as a practice squad guy if there's room there.

Special:

<> Lovato - Does the team shop the waiver wire for a replacement? I wouldn't be too surprised, but I think they go with him for now.
