Packers Question of the day - Expectations for Sunday

Another Sunday, another Sunday Night Football broadcast featuring the Packers this season. This time, it'll feature the team they knocked out of the playoffs 10 months ago.

It couldn't have come at a worse time - or maybe, this is the best time. The Packers have a chance to right their wrongs from their three consecutive losses on national television and remind people that they're still a team to be reckoned with.

It's wishful thinking, and it will take a lot for that to bode over so smoothly against a Redskins team that is coming off of a win against the Packers' NFC North foes, the Vikings.

What are your expectations for Sunday night?

I have no idea what to expect. Until the Colts game I thought I knew.
But then McCarthy got away from what had been working offensively and it has suffered since.

I will just say I hope we get a victory in Washington.

Hopefully this will be the game that changes the season for us and spring boards us into something good.

I don't know where to post this.

But I just heard Wilde say that Adam is not doing well. I hadn't heard any updates lately so I wasn't sure.

This is extremely sad news. My thoughts and Prayers go out to Adam and his family.

Very sad indeed. Also, puts a lot of things in perspective.

Let's hope the Packers can win one for Adam.

Agreed. While this site allow us all to vent about trivial things like a football game, at times like this you realize how little all that matters. Here's hoping any miracle that was queued up for the 2016 Packers is redirected in Adam's direction.

This team has or rather are suffering, both literally and physically, on and off the field as openly perceived by some in the media and by fans alike.

Some have mentioned the thinking that the team is actually in a rebuilding state and the play over the last 20 + games can allow a nod of agreement. Though for many who have claimed absolutely with preseason expectations of Super Bowl appearance, this can be a way out, for better use of that dirty word....excuse, which is a better late than never fence jump.

This however poses another question. Are the Packers getting the right players for the direction of this rebuild or is the direction which will more likely remain same, the right direction. This of coarse includes offense and defensive schemes, coaches and GM.

We have seen players, and rightly so, appear physically lacking, mentally fatigued in regard to on field goings on, and last but not least the most inconsistent level of play from those getting paid well and those who are assumed to garner new deals with high dollar figures.

If this team or its management is content with its roster and staff performance, than as fans you will get what many clamor for as being successful via a entry into the playoffs with a possible 9-7 record or a back door insult via totally inept division, but another bounce is good odds and another low 1st rd pick to offer false hope will be secured and the same Groundhog Day experience can greet you yet again for another season which is a really long day to relive.

I hope with all my strength for this team to win out and offer the success expected and be allowed to eat a self served dish of crow but this is the proverbial snowball in hell chance and dinner for me by you will simply stay in the pot.

This question is easy to answer for me. Based on he evidence of the last few games of 2015 (except the NFC final against the Cardinals, even though their true colours against the Panthers), my expectation is they will lose the rest of their games this season, and have a higher draft choice for a change. We need a couple o losing seasons to secure more than one high draft pick.

Middle area free agents signed by TT would have made up for many of the deficiencies that now exist. ---- Playing a bunch of "kids" at the NFL level who may or may not even be NFL players is presently killing the Pack. --- TT needs to go after this season or it's only going to get worse.

I could talk about my hopes, but this is about expectations. So I expect a loss by at least 2 TDs, because I don't think the issues have been fixed and won't be during this season, neither offensively nor defensively. And judging by the more recent weeks, it won't matter if injured players come back. That seems to make things worse as far as play-calling etc is concerned...

You do realize that by predicting a 2 TD loss by the Packers indicates that you are not only a ViQueen fan but also a troll. -- Ask just about anyone here.

Hell I'm a loyal Packer fan since I was born (60 years ago). I told my wife that I thought we would lose to the Cowboys by 2 td's. Wake up fans we suck right now. TT has to go. He has not given MM the personal to back up the starters.

Not sure what's going to happen with the defense and special teams those are my biggest question marks. You probably know the offense will put up around 24.

I am worried about the matchup with Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis two quality TE's that will give the D a headache trying to cover up a sore spot of the defense in the middle of the field. Walker another top TE destroyed them last week. I think if the D can somehow contain the plays in the middle of the field they will win.

I expect the Packers to put up a better fight on national television, especially with Clay and Jared Cook finally returning. Call me crazy, but maybe Christine Michael gets in on the act and spells Starks for a few carries. The defense MUST play better and the team can't fall behind right away either. Packers 27, Redskins 26.

If the defense plays like it did against the Giants then they have a chance, we all thought the Giants would have 500 passing yards and they did not, so it is possible to play some good defense.I think it's a coaching issue now.

This one is really difficult to pick. If the game were at Lambeau, I'd pick the Pack. --- The game's different because it's at Washington. --- I'm not sure MM can get 53 players up for another one on the road.

My biggest dislike at this point: GB's best player has immersed himself in areas that have little to do with this game. -- AR needs to focus on the present and maybe even drop his pressers. --- Just play football and "zip the lip".

Have to pick the Foreskins simply because they want payback for last years playoff loss to the Pack, at home. A big motivator.

I'll put it this way:
The Packers are a "wild-card" team at this point.
Because each week is like a wild-card going forward, you just never know what you're going to get.

I expect Rodgers to miss throws he made earlier in his career. I expect the other Rodgers to get another 50 snap workout in his cement shoes. I expect the defensive secondary to be the sieve it's been. And i expect the other guys to win in their stadium.

There's an article on one of the web sites that stated Aaron Rodgers has cut ties with his family about two years ago. There's no debating that he's a very intelligent and great QB. Here's my question/statement...I have family that I haven't talked to in three years, but that's just one person. I can't imagine cutting off ties to my whole family.

My point is that kind of loss (no matter who's fault it is) mentally weighs on a person. Rodgers has been in a slump for the past two years. I'm not sure if they are related, but wouldn't surprise me at all if they are.

I don't want to hijack this article, but point out that Rodgers on field play may be affected by his personal life. I would hope above all that he can find harmony with his family. Beyond that, I hope he can center his mind on football if he's not.

I expect the Packers to come out ready to play, start off OK, but then the Redskins start burning them over the middle and build a huge lead. . MM then decides he needs to run the ball more (ie. Starts trying to put a square peg in a round hole) and we get embarrassed again on Sunday night by going away from what works. Cook, Rip, Davis and Monty combined get less than 20 snaps. Hoping for the opposite.

my expectation for this game is not a positive one. The road swing of the NFC east has us coming up against a skins team which looks not pathetic (big change for them) followed by a completely capable (depending on which wentz shows up) philly team. Since our Packers seem to revel in making chumps look like champs as of late I expect a double digit loss.

I would expect to see CMIII move back to ILB or that hybrid position. I do expect our secondary to get beat up. I expect AR to throw well enough to rack up some decent numbers... just not decent enough to carry the team.

I expect our new RB to get a few touches and then inexplicably be removed from the game (a MM specialty). I also expect a lot of deep isolation routes as MM sees the same thing we do, a team with average secondary. The thing that MM does not seem to comprehend is that three out of his 5 WR are not capable of beating a man in isolation.

My final expectation: 34-24.
