Packers quarterbacks: It's not show friends, It's show business

With reports that Jordan Love could ask for a trade if Aaron Rodgers returns and Aaron Rodgers kick starting #RodgersWatch by saying both sides have to want him to return, Nagler talks turkey about what the Green Bay Packers should do at the quarterback position.

A Joe Montana, Bret Favre, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady end-of-career experience followed by returning to the team as its Hall of Fame member isn't a bad thing.

Love should have never been drafted in the first place. Stop the foolishness. Sell!

Rodgers should have been evicted in 2019.

Love has never been the problem, Rodgers has and continues to be. The Rodgers window is closed. Time to move on, put Love on the field. And maybe pull the handle another time on the qb slot machine as a contingency plan.

At the time Love was drafted, we were trying to contend for a Super Bowl and should have gotten another weapon. It was a bad decision at the time, but if Jordan Love turns out to be a great QB, then we will look back as Gutey like he is a fortune teller.

Just because it was't the right pick at the time doesn't mean it is bad, period. Now that we are on a rebuilding trajectory, it is time to make the most of the Love pick and build around him.

Sell - I agree - but sell Rodgers (to the Jets, ideally)

Nag’s, I agree. But what leverage does Gutie even have? Also, there are a ton of Packer players who will be coming up for a new contract next season. How can the team afford to resign good players when the cap is being eaten up by Rodgers contract?

They can't, which is why they need to rebuild so they can start anew in 2024 with a cleansed salary cap. Jenkins is likely on his way out (hopefully they can franchise tag-and-trade him so they can at least get some compensation in return).

My perception is that the Packers don’t need to showcase Love in a game because they see him everyday in practice. The brief time he was forced into play, because of 12’s injury, he showed progression. The coaches have a good guess about how Love’s talent fits into Matt’s system.

If the team is chasing the chance at entering the playoffs the rest of the season and never has a solid opportunity to showcase Love to the league, maybe that is all the more reason for them to request additional compensation in a trade for 12. Hopefully Aaron is able to showcase good play that might lead a team to offer something worthwhile in a trade.

Fan perception and reality may differ significantly. I’d imagine Jordan’s turn at the reins will be decided prior to the opening kickoff of next season.

Of course it will be decided, but in Love’s favor!

Gute needs to reinterview Love so that he sees humility. Rodgers only won as many Superbowls as Trent Dilfer. He has not sold out to the Packer way. Think recent....the 1st half of the Bear game...no eye black with the sun on his barren face. The WRs followed. The 2nd half did not show this same sun effect. Which half did he produce toward winning football. Why does he not give thought to win? Encourage him to go elsewhere, taking the hit of the trade. Keep Love on his rookie contract until the cap mess clears. Promising this to the other free agents might convince them toward this plan.
