Packers Practice: Lacy, Jones Non-Participants, Bulaga Works In Large Knee Brace

Eddie Lacy has not yet been cleared to practice while Bryan Bulaga has apparently been given the opportunity to play through his torn MCL.

Per Tom Silverstein

Lacy has reportedly passed the first part of the NFL's concussion protocol but apparently has not progressed far enough to be cleared for practice.

Bulaga is trying to play after reportedly tearing his MCL in the game against the Seahawks.

Bostick apparently was not limited in any way, which is encoruaging. Depending on how his lower leg injury responds, chances are he'll see his first action of the season against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Brad Jones may have re-agrivated his quadriceps injury, but there's no concrete info there yet, Mike McCarthy will address reporters later today and will most likely give an update.

The Packers, as Tom noted later on his Twitter timeline, were in shells today. The schedule calls for the team to practice in pads tomorrow. That will give us a much better indication of where Lacy, Bulaga, Bostick and Jones are.

The best news of the today's participants is the Brad Jones isn't participating.
Hopefully this will give Lattimore and/or Barrington the edge to start Sunday.

I do really like that Bostick is back practicing. He adds another dimension to the offense that was lacking last week.

If Lacy can't go Sunday, I think we will be ok with Starks and Harris.
If Bulaga can't go, I think Sherrod will be alright. Outside of 2 plays I thought Sherrod held up well for the most part. I think he will be ok. They can always add a RB or TE to help on that side if needed too...
I'm not as concerned as others with Sherrod. But we'll see...

Mashed Potato Mikes play calling didn't help Sherrod on those bad plays either. I also felt he held up OK other than those few plays. A design bubble screen, RB screen, and or play action was used very little throughout the game and not at all until way too late in the forth quarter. WHY??? Just Tater out coaching himself again! Designed quick plays like Bevel called for Seattle would have gone a long way in helping Sherrod rather than the 5 step drop 30 yard routes Tater insisted on calling in crucial moments like being backed up at the goal line on 1st and 10 and on the panicked 4 and 5....

TT should give MM a screen quota for every game. I'd like to see 1 HB, WR, TE, screen or shovel pass per quarter. He goes complete games without calling 1.

MM should also be banned from going empty backfield in short yardage situations. It's just plain stupid unless your running the 2nd best play in football, the QB draw.

Best play, the screen pass.

Cow, You Crack me up. The line has moved down a tick. I don't like it. It's still -8 -9, & I still am with GB to win & cover, but the trend here scares me. When you bet football, trends can be bigger than teams. Every time we get a team at home from NY, we seem to be -8. I don't have to remind you what's happened the last 2 times. Someone tell me where most of the $$$$ is going to be bet on this game, GB or the NYJ's?? LVT

Unfortunately sometimes it takes an injury for Tinkering Ted and Mashed Potato Mike to upgrade the starting lineup.... ie Desmond Bishop but the quad is definately a blessing to every in the PAcker nation other than Brad Jones. Lattimore and Barrington will play and provide much more instinctual thump in running lanes than Brad and AJ can bring. I'm continually unimpressed at the fact that Tater and Tinker leave guys on the bench who are better than those starting! 2014 examples include: Dix/Richardson>Burnett, Pennel>Guion/Boyd, Barrington>Hawk, Lattimore>Jones (not by much). This happens every year, 2010 just happened to work out just right....

31-20 Pack, with CJ and Ivory looking like Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson if we dont make some personnel changes in the middle of the defense. Jets have no secondary and Arodge is going to carve them up. Slocum's god awful special teams units and Dom's cream puff run Def may make this more interesting than it should be but these guys' units have shown consistent bad performances over the last 4 season for me to feel spot on...

I agree " Slocum's god awful special teams units and Dom's cream puff run Def "

The over/under on the number of stupid plays(reflecting horse s**t coaching) on STs would be about 5.....roughing the kicker, offsides, punt bounces off a punt receiving team blocker, holding, block to the back, returning kickoff to about the ten, too many men on the field, and fumbles lost.

The cause of our "cream puff" defense is partially due to our highly "versatile" players trying to learn several positions and a whole bunch of razzle dazzle plays for each position. McCarthy must think our players are geniuses AND good at anything Capers can dream up. Our "amoeba" defense is laughable compared to Seattle's. Seattle's players looked like mad bulls digging in the dirt "ready" to cause some mayhem.

Sadly, if Barrington and Lattimore are seen as less players than JOnes, then that just supports my position: Ted drafts bodies not playmakers and this team still has a hell of a lot of deadwood.
Funny the other night the Anseh of the Lions had three sacks, a forced fumble and two tackles.
Datone our number one pick hasn't had three solo sacks in three years. Fox Stats said by game 12 of last year he had 8 tackles and one assisted sack.
There is a reason this teams D sucks. Jets by 10.

Ansah was a top 10 pick. 5 overall if I remember right. He should be better then Jones. Also he plays a different position then Jones.

Also Jones is in his 2nd year. Nice try though.

I guess the lions competition was so much better then the Packers in the first week. Giants looked like a super bowl bound team till they played the lions.

Now im not a religious man at all but I have been praying all week that Brad Jones would turn up with some kind of injury this week and it would seem my prayers were answered. His injury should be listed as "Bruised Ego" not the quad.

It was also reported that Goodson practiced. If so, then I assume that he has recovered from his injury. I thought Goodson was going to be cut and then signed to the practice squad? I suppose that it will become clear in due time.

I'd be a lot more worried as an 0-1 Saints fan than I am being an 0-1 Packers fan. The Packers got beat soundly, by a team that humiliated a HOF QB in the Super Bowl, while said HOF QB was running (at least statistically) one of the best offenses the NFL has ever seen. And who put together this dominant defense and run-first offense in an era when the NFL rules bend over backwards to help the passing game? A "Tinkering Ted" protege. Keep Calm and Carry On folks.

I get that, but it's a long season and a lot can happen. The new look 4-3 can't hide bad tackling, no doubt. Bad tackling has been an issue for quite a while, which is just crazy. I'm not even quibbling if someone wants to be critical. What I am reacting to is what I see as an over-reaction. TT is still a top-10 GM. MM is still a top-10 HC. AR is still a top-5 QB. MM and AR and the rest of the team had a bad game, and they had it against what is probably the best team in the NFL, and in what is probalby the hardest road venue to play in. I'm all for getting a new DC at the end of the year if this group does not come around. This it Capers' make or break year. But let's let him have a few games before we're pinning junior-high names on people and calling for their heads.

But yet the Packs' record over last season and 1 game in 2014 is 8-9-1. They haven't beaten a team that finished the season with a winning record since season 2012.

Please, no excuses. These are just the facts.

All teams deal with injuries. AR is not the first starting QB to miss time on the field. Remember, there are 52 other players on an NFL roster.

Truly elite teams in the NFL can overcome most injuries. Although starting QB is definitely a key position, teams with depth still win. The Packers lack depth.

Samson, We came within an eyelash of beating SF last year, using a lot of 2ond & 3rd string players. In fact we played most of the year with a lot of 2ond string players, & players out of position. We need to be better Defensively against the run. That is what is killing us. Bulaga going down once again has hurt the O Line. Rodgers needs more time to throw. I personally think the road to the SB goes through SF, not Seattle. I'm not really that much of a TT fan, but I do think MM is a Good Coach. I think he might be wearing too many hats. LVT

I do somewhat agree and get what your saying... Elite teams can overcome some injuries.
But you take away Brees, Brady, Manning, even Russell Wilson, Kaepernick and others and put in a 4th string QB and those teams will not win as many games as they would have if those Starters were playing.

Also throw in, The Packers not only lost their star QB. They lost one of their best WR's, TE, best player on defense for much of that stretch.
Take away any teams best defensive player, and Star QB it will change a team.
Not an excuse, pure fact.

Last 4 drafts before 2014 draft. Rounds 1-3.
D. Jones, E. Lacy, N. Perry, J. Worthy, C. Hayward, D. Sherrod, R. Cobb, A. Green, B. Bulaga, M. Neal, M. Burnett.

Only Lacy & Cobb are considered impact players. A few others are at least serviceable if they somehow can stay on the field.

This is why the Pack can't play like an elite team when AR, CM & RC go down at the same time. ---- The last four TT drafts have been a disaster (before 2014).
