Packers placing Kenny Clark on injured reserve

Packers placing Kenny Clark on injured reserve

Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Packers are planning on placing defensive lineman Kenny Clark, who hurt his elbow in a win over the Atlanta Falcons two weeks ago, on season-ending injured reserve.

The #Packers have informed NT Kenny Clark they’re placing him on injured reserve, source said. No surgery needed on his injured elbow, but they’re out of the playoff chase, so breakout season ends early.

Through 13 games, Clark had 55 tackles, six sacks, three passes defended and a forced fumble.

I've been on IR since 2015 in Seattle.

A repeat of the dysfunction of 2018 and I will be with Cole Madison on the "did not report" list

Sit all the starters, move up in the draft. Right now the Pack is at 11 and 32 from N.O. in the 1st round. The jets and lolions are all that's left, if we can lose at home to AZ, then these last 2 games can be lost too. We need difference makers now.

Not many "starters" remain. Probably should save D Bak, AR, Linsley, and Adams for their big January game at Orlando.

Rodgers won't play in the Pro Bowl, he will be recovering from his post-season surgery(ies). Thanks, Since '61

If Rodgers is going to screw us over by playing these last two meaningless games and actually trying to win than he better damn well play in the pro bowl. I would be willing to bet that 90% or more of the Packers fans would prefer the Packers just lose those last two games vs. winning them. If they sit Rodgers and put in Kizer it's a win win for everyone involved. Will Rodgers sit? Nope. he'll screw us over. They are putting every damn good veteran player on IR except for drum roll.............. Aaron Rodgers!! It's bloody madness!! This is 1988 all over again. GB at AZ. who remembers?

For all the downvotes I've gotten over it I thought I was the only one who thought they should sit the core starters who have been banged up.

If they loose out the probably get to #7. There is a huge chance there will be a top defender there. Or, a QB so they can flip the pick for a haul from some QB needy team. Or, gasp, draft a QB to start grooming.

Hopefully AR is a game time decision inactive. We are held in suspense as a show for Rodger Goodell.

0-2 probably garners 8th through 10th, with a chance at 6th/7th. 1-1 probably 11th or so. 2-0 probably drops us down to 16th to 18th. Give it another week and things probably will get clearer. I did a modicum of work in the link below:

I agree. This is a business. No disrespect to AR, but the only upside for the team (not Philbin) is from improving players at this point, either for our future or in terms of trade value. Nothing else matters. Winning only devalues our draft position. I am not in favor of tanking, but I am in favor of playing for the future, and that can affect immediate outcomes. One of the things to look for will be which players are playing for their future when given game time.

jeremyjjbrown's picture

IDK, If Philbin comes out with a bunch of scrubs and they play these 2 games well. I'd say that bodes better for his career than what we saw at Soldier Field.

Hell....I've been on life support because of this season. Packers play was killing me

Since '61's picture

12guage - it's only football and not that important in the overall sphere of things. Forget it and move on. I'm confident that you will be fine. Thanks, Since '61

Packers0808's picture

Watching the Packers this year has been like watching someone you know personally slowly dying over 14 weeks!

Tundraboy's picture

Not really.

jeremyjjbrown's picture

I take it you have never done that. It's not even close.

4thand1's picture

Been there, not even close. Football and sports is so unimportant you don't even know they exist. Hope you or anyone ever has to deal with it.

Agree with Since 61 and Jeremyjjbrown on this one. It's a game....not life and death. Entertainment, nothing more. If it stops being entertaining, I just find something better to do. I've seen friends die and my wife survive cancer in the last couple of years.....this is just an unfortunate turn of events. I think the offseason will be entertaining, however. I'll be hardwired to the internet, for news on the next coach. I say, Hire Fangio, bring an offensive whiz kid that Rodgers respects(Alex van Pelt?) and keep Pettine.

If GB can lose to AZ at home, we can lose to NYJ on the road. This defense can make Darnold look like Brady. Easily give up 300+ yards passing, and cave for 150 rushing. Throw in a few Special Teams blunders, and it's another road loss. Hello, 1958!

Razer's picture

Such a surprise that Kenny Clark ended up on IR. Start the season with like 3.5 starters on your Dline rotation and immediately lose one of the studs. Then play your best guy every snap until he drops. Total surprise.

Neither Ted or apparently Gutekunst respect the need to have strong trench players on either side of the ball. I don't remember a time when the Packers controlled the LOS against a team that mattered.

Thegreatreynoldo's picture

Demovsky recently tweeted that Clark is not going on IR. Wait for further information at this point.
