Packers place Lane Taylor on IR, bring back Adam Pankey

The veteran guard suffered a biceps injury earlier this week.

Earlier this week, left guard Lane Taylor appeared on the Packers injury report with a biceps injury. Yesterday, he was ruled out of Sundays game against the Broncos.

Today, he was placed on injured reserve.

Along with the announcement of the move, the Packers indicated they have signed offensive lineman Adam Pankey to their 53 man roster off of the Tennessee Titans practice squad.

Pankey spent 12 games on the Packers’ practice squad last year before being signed to the active roster last December, appearing in one game. He was released by the Packers following training camp this year and was signed to the Titans’ practice squad on Sept. 2.

Pankey will wear No. 67 for the Packers.

Hope it’s nothing serious. He’s eligible to be back in eight weeks. They may need him for back up by then. It’s a long season. We’ll see if panky is needed also. Looks like a pretty good move with the situation they’re in.

I think it's a solid move because it means we could have a healthy Lane Taylor available after Thanksgiving instead of an injured Taylor now. And we DO have a guy in Jenkins who might be able to do the job.

Who's the backup guard now?

Who is the backup OG? Patrick, then Pankey, then Madison?

Who is the backup OC? Patrick, then Madison, I suppose.

Taylor won't be back. He'll milk the rest of his contract now that he's lost his job.

Pankey also knows the offense. Between his time at GB and in a similar system with the Titian’s he should be ready if need be. I think that many defenses have learned that an inside pass rush is just as important as the edge rush. Our guards need to be able to handle that.

Huh, a biceps injury that didn’t seem too serious apparently is. I wonder if they found a torn muscle or deeply bruised biceps?

I actually thought Jenkins outplayed Taylor and had earned the starting position. Guy is a wall.

I don’t view Pankey as much of a fall off from Taylor, if any. Adam is a snarly fighter.

Pro football focus had him rated very high that last game.

That's a tough break. Makes a deep O line pretty thin, Pankey is limited in what positions he can play. I am wondering about coaching issues with the G/C slots, with how the starters seem to set higher than they did in the previous system. Well. Jenkins is it, ready or not, we'll see how he plays on Sunday...
