Packers place Equanimeous St. Brown on injured reserve

Per the league's transaction wire, the Packers have placed wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown on injured reserve.

This year, that does not necessarily mean St. Brown will have to endure a long-term absence. For the 2020 season, players are allowed to be be brought back off injured reserve after three weeks, so we could conciveably see the third year receiver out of Notre Dame in less than a month.

St. Brown was not active for the team's Week 1 game in Minnesota and he popped up on the injury report earlier this week with a knee injury. This after missing all of 2019 due to a high ankle sprain suffered in the team's preseason contest against the Raiders in Canada.

St. Brown played in 12 games with seven starts in 2018 and posted 21 receptions for 328 yards.

The Packers also announced they have elevated TE John Lovett and DL Willington Previlon from the practice squad to the active roster for gameday.

Nothing new here. Players either play or they don't.

Too bad. He'll be missed on the bench.

Lovett for DeGuara makes sense as does Previlon for Clark. EQ not nmeeded right now so take advantage of short IR this year - makes sense. Monty Adams may take some snaps this week. Surprised Kamal Martin is not on IR or is he?

ESB totaled 94 yards on 5 receptions (out of 5 targets) for an 18.8 yard per reception average in the final week of his rookie campaign in 2018, the last time he was active for a game.

The kid has had a rough go of it from a health standpoint since. Don't know that means we should be dismissive of his loss to IR again.

That young man has talent.

A pattern developing with EQ. Not a good one. Will he ever be healthy?

Replying to my own comment on ESB.

At the end of both MVS and ESB's rookie year pretty much everyone said that ESB ended the year on a better note than MVS. I have never gotten down on either MVS or ESB even when most everyone around here was and there was a frenzy about drafting a WR. With where MVS and ESB were drafted you would expect it would take a few years for these 'very young' WR's to develop. MVS is maturing and developing as one would expect going into his 3rd year. I fully expect ESB if he can ever stay on the field to similarly develop. The Packers have two very young and talented WR's who are tall, tough, and fast. The Packers are going to be in good shape at WR's for several years.
