Packers, Peprah Agree On 2 Year Deal

Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com reports that the Packers have signed the safety to a two year contract extension.

From Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com comes the following:

Packers and S Charlie Peprah agree to two-year deal worth more than $2.3 mill, source said.

Peprah was slated to become a free agent in the new league year. The deal was reportedly signed before 12am, when all league business was set to cease until a new CBA can be agreed upon.

The Packers shelling out a little over a million a year for Peprah makes me think that the starting safety job across from Nick Collins might be more of a training camp battle between Peprah and Morgan Burnett than people may have initially thought.  The move also almost certainly ends the tenure of Atari Bigby with the team as well.

Good. Move. TT.

I'm liking our D next year more and more. Neal replaces Jenkins. Jolly comes back. CJ Wilson and Green battle it out for the last D line spot. Collins and Pep/Burnett at S. Bishop and Hawk at ILB's. Tramon/Wood/Shields at CB. We could use an upgrade at LOLB though - and I don't see one in the draft that looks great falling to us at #32.

Raji, picket, Neal, Jolly, Green, Wilson makes 6. Don't we have 7 spots usually for Dline?

This is a steal!

Peprah was good enough to win a Super Bowl with, and we get keep him for almost nothing. No sure thing that Burnett beats him out in camp for the starting job next year either!

Really like this move.

The depth on the 2011 Packers is going to be unreal.

Who is penciled in to play FS if Collins get hurt? Anthony Smith? Does Anthony Levine have a shot at that spot?

I think Burnett would move to free safety and Peprah would play strong. That's misleading though because the Packers don't really play with a true strong safety.

Love this move--he showed way more than I ever expected. Bigby's days must be numbered and I'd expect to see him in purple at the first possible moment.

I'll miss Atari Bigby though...fond memories of 2007. Disappointment from scrimmage since then, but solid on ST. Great hair, too.

I've always liked Peprah, and think Burnett is too soft. Bigby - I've never liked - just flys around, a lot out of control - and is injury prone. Good moves all around.

Having both Peprah and Burnett is a good thing. Being able to put Burnett in obvious passing situations and Peprah in obvious run situations is good for the defense.

We've seen Peprah get burned, and Burnett is still a bit soft.

I think Peprah and burnett could be used in a rotation with Peprah in on obvious running situations and Burnett in on obvious passing situations with the winner in training camp getting the not so obvious situations

I don't think this says anything about Burnett, but volumes about Bigby and Smith.

Unless Burnett turns out to be awesome, he and Peprah are probably just keeping the seat warm for Woodson anyway, whenever it becomes time for him to make the switch.

LOVE this. Not sure that Burnett is as soft as everyone thinks, just a tentative rookie. He'll be better with more reps. He played A few plays with a torn ACL, to me that is tough.

With that being said, Peprah played huge for us last season. He is great insurance.

This is a fantastic signing and a fantastic price.

There are just not enough DBs to go around in the NFL. It's also the most oft-injured position group in the league.

Peprah is smart on the field and off. He pratically tackled his own man after the game winning INT against the eagles. Then shileded him with his body to end the game. Lesser brains would have tried to run it back. Also he gives a good interview and is very likable.

To give a comparison: We gave Marquand Manual 5years@10million like 6 years ago. This is stellar. Love Peprah.

People forget that potential disaster at the end of the Eagles game. Thank God Tramon is a class act and Peprah is tough and smart player.

Also in Philly, Peprah's rock solid tackle on Jackson set him back a bit. Glad he's with us.
