Packers' injury report: Randall Cobb, Nick Perry questionable

-- The Green Bay Packers didn't practice on Friday, but if they did, the outlook for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills wouldn't seem as promising for one of their biggest offensive contributors.

Randall Cobb, who had been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout the week, was listed as a non-participant on Friday's injury report after practicing in limited fashion on Thursday.

Cobb dropped two critical passes in last week's loss against the Washington Redskins en route to being targeted 11 times and only catching four passes. Still, the game tape showed that he had no difficulties getting open behind the Redskins' defense, there was just obvious miscommunication between him and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Outside linebacker Nick Perry, on a more positive note, has advanced in the concussion protocol and was estimated to be a limited participant in Friday's practice.

Cobb and Perry make up two of the five players questionable for Sunday's game. Safety Josh Jones, cornerback Kevin King and Rodgers are the other three.

Jones has yet to make his 2018 regular-season debut after battling an ankle injury throughout the preseason and King suffered a groin injury against the Minnesota Vikings in week two.

Rodgers, meanwhile, has progressed in his own fashion with his knee sprain. Thursday was his first time practicing during the week since injuring his knee in the season opener against the Chicago Bears.

Prior to then, he had done light practice work on the Saturdays before games.

Starting right guard Justin McCray was the only player listed as doubtful after not practicing all week.

On the Bills' end, tight end Charles Clay (shoulder/hip) and running back LeSean McCoy (ribs) were both listed as questionable heading into Sunday.

Ya well if you play for shit, you Fein an injury? Cobb sucked, oh must a leggy thing. Perry concussion, oh must be the bright light in his mind getting the big contract done last year.
Jones ankle.? Still out? I've had every ankle injury in the book. Torn ligament is not an ankle injury and it takes months to get over. Otherwise there is something else in play like the Achilles heel they don't want to talk about.

Unless you're saying it's addition by subtraction, the answer is "yes" it does...

I think Nick Perry is pretty much always a limited participant.

I say, stop making Jones an in the box type safety. Sure, he has size, but he also has speed. In fact he ran a faster forty than King did. We need better free safety play. If we are not going out to find one, then why not stop confusing Jones and teach him one position. And I say that position is free safety. I don’t see HHCD back next year anyway. Right now Jones is injured, I hope he is being taught FS in the film room.
I expect that OLB position is going to suck all year. So why not work on the back end of the defense for the rest of this year?

Jones biggest knock last year was blown coverages, and missed assignments in the pass game especially. His speed didn't seem to help him much in coverage last year so it's not guaranteed he can play FS.

It's my hope that Rodgers will start to sync up with the offense a little better with a couple light practices this week.

Maybe those "hands of stone" he was carrying around on Sunday weighed down his hamstrings.

It really says something when Price refused to leave the Browns practice squad to play for the Packers. He refused a chance to start and decided to stay with the ...Browns? This year will be an uneven one at best. And players know it. Even Clay questioned the depth at OLB. And now we see that even a new DC will not be enough to save the season. I like the moves but it is not enough to overcome the lack of talent that TT left us with. I predict a better future but not this year. We lose to the Bills and make a mad scramble to the playoffs but only as a wild card.

It isn't that unusual for a player to decide to stay.

1. Cleveland increased his pay by $30K/week. Price's cap hit is $555K instead of the $129K most practice players receive.

2. Cleveland may have guaranteed some or all of that amount.

3. Price might have been concerned that GB would only keep him for 3 weeks and then he'd be a street free agent.

4. Just in September, Price has already been waived by Dallas, picked up by Oakland (played 17 snaps for Oakland in a regular season game) and been waived by Oakland, and then signed by Cleveland to its PS. Maybe a 4th move in roughly 3 weeks was one too many for him.

5. Cleveland plays a 4-3. Price might think he's better at 3 Technique than NT, or he likes Cleveland's staff better.

It's also a possibility that he doesn't want to go back to a team that he already failed to make the 53 man roster for.. twice.
