Packers Eyeing a Sleeper at Defensive Tackle

The Packers are one of 15 teams that have contacted Portland State DT Myles Wade.

According to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com, the Packers are one of 15 teams that have contacted Portland State defensive tackle Myles Wade. Wilson calls Wade a "a sleeper" as a potential seventh-round pick or priority free agent.

Portland State sleeper defensive tackle Myles Wade has fielded 15 telephone calls from NFL teams over the past four days, according to a league source. Wade has been contacted by the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, two teams that own several seventh-round draft picks.

At his pro day in late March, Wade (6-1, 310 lbs.) ran the 40-yard dash in 5.05 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 42 times. He also had a 35-inch vertical leap and a 9-1 broad jump.

Wade orginially signed with Oregon out of high school, but his grades forced him into community college. He later signed with Texas Tech before returning home to the state of Oregon and Portland State.

Nice measureables. CBS Sports says that he went to Portland and entered a graduate school program, and that he played two seasons at Texas Tech. In 2010 he started six games at TT. 30 tackles, two sacks a pass breakup and a pass defensed at Portland State last year.

Not much of him on this tape in terms of game play.

Impressive running drills for a big guy.

He's Packers people. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go before the 7th.
