Packers Daily Links: Woodson Pledges $100,000 to Hurricane Relief

Speaking at an Obama campaign stop, Charles Woodson announced his $100,000 donation to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy. That and more in today's Daily Links...

Packers defensive back Charles Woodson spoke at a campaign stop by Barack Obama in Green Bay on Thursday, the first in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, where Woodson made public a donation he was making. "Woodson announced at the event that he is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross to help with disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy," writes Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com. "He said he saw on television the damage the storm inflicted on New Jersey and was moved to act. Later Thursday, the NFL and NFL Players Association announced a joint $1 million donation to help relief efforts." Woodson also threw his support behind Obama with the general election just a few days away.

More on Charles Woodson comes from the Associated Press and JSOnline.

In related news, Packers players watched as Air Force One flew around Lambeau Field during practice on Thursday.

Wide receiver Greg Jennings confirmed via Twitter that he underwent surgery to repair his rectus abdominal tear and that surgery went well. "Jennings had to delay his surgery by two days due to Hurricane Sandy, but the Packers star wide receiver confirmed in style that he went through the outpatient procedure Thursday," writes Paul Imig of Fox Sports Wisconsin. Jennings is now on the road to recovery and the prevailing opinion is that he'll return to action in three to six weeks.

Alex Marvez of Fox Sports was in Green Bay this week and wrote a trio of articles on Aaron Rodgers, Tramon Williams facing Larry Fitzgerald and the Packers running game.

The Packers had a pair of players honored by the NFL on Thursday as quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month and Casey Hayward was named the Defensive Rookie of the Month for October. "The second-round pick from Vanderbilt was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month by the league Thursday after intercepting four passes in a three-game span, starting with his first NFL INT against Indianapolis on Oct. 7, followed by two against Houston on Oct. 14 and another against St. Louis on Oct. 21, when Hayward made his first NFL start in place of an injured Sam Shields," writes Jason Wilde. Meanwhile, it seems like not that long ago when many were questioning Aaron Rodgers' early season play. I guess he's turned things around.

More on the monthly honors comes from ESPNMilwaukee.com and ProFootballTalk.com.

Tight end Jermichael Finley opened his mouth again on Thursday. "If the running game isn't going, why not go 100 percent passing?" Finley is quoted as saying by Paul Imig. "I would say pass the ball every play, if it was up to me." Once again, we have a case of Finley being an idiot, even if it is tongue-in-cheek. Try to ignore his idiocy, which I know is difficult to do.

Good ol, Finley at it again. I'm sure ARod would love to throw 100% of the time so he could get killed by week 12. Very smart idea.

Why exactly are these Finley quotes controversial?

Because I think most people have reached the point that everything Finley does is controversial.

When Lang or Sitton call out play calling and say that the Packers need to run more its okay to most fans because they don't have the history that Finley does.
