Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers won the NFL's Best Player Award for the second consecutive year at the ESPYs, an awards show by the cable network ESPN that aired Wednesday evening. "The reigning NFL MVP bested New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, New England tight end Rob Gronkowski, Detroit wide receiver Calvin Johnson and Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs for this year’s honors," notes Wes Hodkiewicz at PackersNews.com.Following his MVP performance in 2011 this award hardly comes as a surprise. Rodgers did lose out on the Best Male Athlete Award to basketball player LeBron James of the Miami Heat.

Also at the ESPYs, which Donald Driver attended, the veteran wide receiver spoke about a desire to play two more years in the NFL. "I'm going to play two more years, this one, then next year, then I'm completely done," Driver is quoted as saying by Dan Hanzus of NFL.com. "(I'm) gonna put my cleats on the shelf and do something different." As Hanzus notes, Driver only signed a one-year contract with the Packers, so if he wants to play two more years, he somehow has to convince the Packers to re-up one more time.

Wide receiver Greg Jennings attended the ESPY Celebrity Golf Classic on Tuesday.

Defensive back and special teams ace Jarrett Bush has some lofty goals for the 2012 season. "When asked his goals for the upcoming year, the Green Bay Packer, who played in every game last season and started two, mentioned the Pro Bowl," writes Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel who also qualifies the statement by quoting Bush saying "On special teams." Good for Bush. Packers fans would love to see him make the Pro Bowl.

Former Packers linebacker Nick Barnett, now a member of the Buffalo Bills, expressed in an interview with the Green Bay Press-Gazette the motivation he received after being released from Green Bay. “I was disappointed in the fact that I was released,” Barnett is quoted as saying by reporter Wes Hodkiewicz. “I definitely wanted to go out and show them as well as show myself and anybody else who doubted me that I’m still who I am. I’m still here to play football. I still love to play the game. I’m still going to run to the ball, make plays and have fun.” Barnett had a good season with the Bills, but not so good that the Packers can be blamed for making a mistake in letting him go.

Packers head trainer Pepper Burris made some media rounds on Wednesday granting several interviews in support of a new initiative. "Burruss, along with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, partnered with Gatorade for the first annual National Recovery Day on Wednesday to draw awareness to the importance of taking athletic recovery seriously," writes Wes Hodkiewicz. It's good to see Burris getting some attention in the media after working for the Packers for nearly twenty years, largely in obscurity.
