In a statement to ESPN, Packers defensive lineman Tony Hargrove expressed his dissatisfaction that his signed declaration to the NFL regarding the New Orleans Saints bounty program was leaked to the media. "I'm disappointed that 'the Declaration' was leaked," Hargrove is quoted as saying. "The intent of 'the Declaration' was to let the NFL know exactly what happened in March of 2010. Call me naive, but I did not expect them to publicize the fact that I had sent them 'the Declaration.' But since they did, and because they grossly mischaracterized my words, it obviously became a hot item and subsequently was leaked by someone." As the report goes onto say, there is contention between the NFL and the player's union about what Hargrove's declaration says. Like I've said before in our Daily Links here at Cheesehead TV, this situation is only going to get messier before it gets cleaner.

Salary allocations for each of the Packers' eight draft choices were reported by Tom Silverstein at JSOnline. For example, the individual allocation for first-round draft pick Nick Perry is $1,363,500. "Slots are created for each player based on where he was drafted and the first-year salary will basically come in at that number," writes Silverstein. Because of the language in the NFL's new collective bargaining agreement, very little room for negotiation is available.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers reflected on Wednesday upon the resolution making the date of 12/12/12 "Aaron Rodgers Day" in the state of Wisconsin. “Mike’s probably going to have a padded practice and I think we play the Bears that week, so it will be an amped-up practice,” Rodgers is quoted as saying at Packer Report, alluding to Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. “Hopefully it won’t be just another day, but at that point in the season, it’s difficult to get through the grind, but I know this is going to make us — at least me, personally — reflect back on the last seven years. I think it’s a great opportunity to get perspective on how a career and a way of living your life can have an impact on society.” Dec. 12 falls on a Wednesday in 2012, a date the Packers typically have practice before a Sunday game.

A feature on UW-Stout's Tyler Butzler, an offensive lineman receiving a tryout in this weekend's rookie minicamp, appears in the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram. "Since Jan. 1, Butzler’s been making an hour-long trek to Woodbury, Minn., four or five times a week to work with former UW-Stout running back Ryan Englebert — who signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as a rookie free agent in 2007," writes reporter Adam Parks. "Butzler followed one of his former teammates at UW-Stout to Englebert’s ETS workout facility, where he’s improved everything from his strength and speed to lateral quickness." Butzler is a Wisconsin native. He played right tackle at Stout but will reportedly be tried at guard for the Packers.

Another tryout player, Virginia's Raymond Keys, is featured in The Roanoke (Va.) Times. Keys is a wide receiver, but his best chance of receiving a contract offer might be because of his special teams prowess where he had 30 tackles for the Cavaliers. "If I were to make the team, I'd expect to be a participant in most every phase of special teams," Keys is quoted as saying "If I had a chance to play receiver, I'd love to do that, but typically, that's not how a guy in my situation makes it." Keys reportedly only had eight receptions in his college career.
