Packers Daily Links: Driver Says "We're the Greatest Show on Grass"

Wide receiver Donald Driver compared the Packers to the Super Bowl winning Rams teams from a decade ago in a recent interview. That and more in today's Daily Links...

Veteran wide receiver Donald Driver is featured in an article by Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The article focuses on Driver's legacy and thoughts of when he might retire, but one of the most interesting quotes from Driver has him comparing the Packers to the turn-of-the-century St. Louis Rams. "I still love the game. I can still play at a high level," said Driver. "It's just a different offense, a different year. I'm not the go-to guy I used to be. I have never been a part of an offense where there has been this much talent. Remember those great St. Louis teams? Faulk. Warner. Bruce. Holt. Greatest show on turf? We're the greatest show on grass." The rest of the article is definitely worth reading to see Driver's take on his chances for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and his humbleness that pervades throughout.

Linebacker Erik Walden was released from jail on bond yesterday, but perhaps the most interesting part of Walden's court appearance in front of a Brown County judge was that his girlfriend, the assumed victim of domestic abuse, changed her story. Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel interviewed the district attorney working on the case. "It may be she says she never really did change her story, that is what she said from the get-go and it was misreported," John Zakowski is quoted as saying. "We're in the process of looking at that as well. In domestic violence, many times there's an incident and then after the initial shock or pain subsides then there's the realization that we just want to make it go away. This is someone who's a breadwinner, this is someone who they've been with a number of years. There's a number of reasons why that can happen." In the case of Walden, the "breadwinner" reference strikes a chord. He returns to court next week.

More on Erik Walden comes from the WBAY-TV (video), Green Bay Press-Gazette, Associated Press and ESPNMilwaukee.com.

Wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett is the focal point of an article by Pete Dougherty of the Press-Gazette centering on ball security and the low number of fumbles the Packers have this season. Green Bay ranks No. 2 in the NFL with a plus-16 turnover differential. "Quarterback Aaron Rogers’ ball security figures most prominently in that rating — he’s thrown only four interceptions and has but two fumbles, both of which the Packers recovered," writes Dougherty. "But it’s also noteworthy that the Packers’ receivers have only one of the team’s 11 fumbles overall and none of the five fumbles lost." First Bennett did it with the running backs, and now it's carrying over to the receivers. His players simply don't fumble.

The recent Packers-Lions Thanksgiving game is referenced in an Associated Press article that asks whether Ndamukong Suh is a dirty player. Mean Joe Greene is interviewed.

Brett Goode for Aaron Rodgers seems like a great trade in a special teams-only fantasy league.

Better yet, "The Greatest Show on ANY Turf".
