In spite of claims that he's too old and his best days have passed him by, veteran wide receiver Donald Driver impressed Tuesday during Packers training camp in Green Bay. "He caught three touchdown passes during team drills and was the offensive star of the day," writes Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "During a red zone period, Driver ran a fade route against cornerback Davon House and caught an 18-yard touchdown from Aaron Rodgers. Two plays later, he showed he’s still willing to put his body on the line by going over the middle. He ran a seam route against cornerback Jarrett Bush and caught a 12-yard touchdown from Rodgers." Driver will make the roster in 2012 if for no other reason than his notoriety that has reached national proportions. He may not be a 1,000-yard receiver any more, but he still has what it takes to play in the NFL.

Outside linebacker Erik Walden was suspended one game by the NFL for an incident dating back to last season when he got into a domestic dispute on Thanksgiving with his girlfriend. "Walden will be eligible to return to the Packers’ active roster on Monday, Sept.10 following the team’s regular-season opener against the San Francisco 49ers the day before," writes Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com. "Walden is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games, the league said." Walden joins Mike Neal and Anthony Hargrove as other Packers who are suspended to begin the season. It will be interesting to see how the Packers handle their spots on the roster.

Safety Morgan Burnett made a positive impression during training camp practice, which earned praise from both Mike McCarthy and his teammates. "In a matter of minutes, he provided help over the top on receiver Jordy Nelson and timed his jump along the sideline perfectly so that he got two hands on the ball before it got to Nelson; drilled tight end Jermichael Finley in the back on a pass across the middle that Finley probably should have caught; and picked off quarterback Aaron Rodgers across the middle after it appeared the intended receiver fell down," writes Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel. McCarthy said people will be talking about Burnett throughout the league. Packers fans can only hope he's right.

Cornerback Davon House continues to grab attention with his play during training camp. "With back-to-back strong practices on Saturday and Monday, House found himself working with the starters on Tuesday morning, and he did not disappoint," writes Jason Wilde. "While his day wasn’t chock-full of impression-making plays like his two-interception day on Monday, he more than held his own in the same secondary as likely future Pro Football Hall of Famer Charles Woodson and returning-to-form shutdown corner Tramon Williams." The Packers appear to be going with the hot hand at cornerback during training camp whether it's Jarret Bush, Sam Shields, Casey Hayward or House. So if House wants to hang on to a starting job, he's going to have to earn it.

A feature on defensive lineman C.J. Wilson comes from Bob McGinn of the Journal Sentinel. "(Rookie Jerel) Worthy has been a fixture next to B.J. Raji at defensive tackle in the nickel and dime, or 'sub' defenses," writes McGinn. "Although Worthy has played extensively at right end in the base 3-4, the coaches have yet to waver on Wilson as the starter alongside nose tackle B.J. Raji and left end Ryan Pickett." Wilson isn't flashy, but he plays the run well. He's entering his third season in the NFL, so perhaps he's at a point in his career when he really elevates his play. He'll make the roster this season.
