Packers Daily Links: Draft Party Planned for Curly's Pub

An NFL Draft party has been planned at Curly's Pub at Lambeau Field including appearances by several prominent Packers. "Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy, General Manager Ted Thompson, Head Coach Mike McCarthy, tackle Bryan Bulaga, and fullback John Kuhn will make appearances at the party," according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette in reference to Apr. 26. Free wi-fi will be available for mobile devices.

More on the Draft party at Lambeau Field comes from the Packers official website.

Stacy Jenson, a public relations agent at Elite Sports that represented several Packers players, is under investigation by the FBI, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "The probe of Jenson, who built a successful career representing several well-known Green Bay Packers players, involves allegations that she improperly used a credit card belonging to IEWC Global Solutions after she stopped working for the New Berlin distributor of wire and cable products," writes Cary Spivak of the Journal Sentinel. "The card was used to purchase a variety of items, including tickets for sporting events, sources said. Authorities also are looking into allegations involving other financial questions, the sources said. They added that a 'substantial' amount of money was at issue, though they declined to elaborate." Several Packers players have reportedly dropped Jenson and Elite Sports as their representative.

The Packers attended the pro day workout of Beloit receiver Derek Carrier at the University of Wisconsin in early March, but their interest in Carrier didn't stop there. "Since that workout, agent Ron Slavin of Madison has fulfilled requests from all 32 teams for game tape of his client," writes Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Carrier spent a day last week in Seattle visiting with Seahawks' officials, and on Monday departs for a visit with the Oakland Raiders." Former Packers executive John Schneider is the general manager for the Seahawks while Reggie McKenzie is now the G.M. for the Raiders.

A story elaborating on the recent pre-draft visit of Western Michigan's Drew Nowak with the Packers is published in the Press-Gazette. “I played with (Packers director of college scouting) John Dorsey’s son, Bryant," Nowak told Wes Hodkiewicz. "(College scouting coordinator) Danny Mock, I went to high school with his daughter, and (head athletic trainer) Pepper Burruss, I went to school with his son, Shane, who was a year older than me. I knew who the people were, so it was pretty awesome, but I also felt pretty comfortable, so the nerves weren’t getting to me too bad.” Nowak is a defensive lineman expected to go late in the NFL Draft or sign as an undrafted free agent.

Former Packers assistant and current ESPN broadcaster Jon Gruden talked to reporters on a conference call recently about Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson. “The only issue with Russell Wilson is his height," Gruden is quoted as saying by Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com. "He's got tremendous mobility. I've got him at 4.50 in the 40. He's mastered two different offensive systems. When do any of us remember a kid transferring from N.C. State to Wisconsin in July and breaking every Wisconsin Badger record?  The Badgers could have won every game this year if not for a couple Hail Marys."

The beginning of the Packers' offseason workout program is also touched upon at ESPNMilwaukee.com.

A feature detailing the connection between the Packers and the USS Green Bay U.S. Navy ship is published at the Packers official website.

A column about the release of the NFL schedule is written by Michael Hunt of the Journal Sentinel.

The Packers have the second-easiest schedule in the NFL based upon opponents' 2011 winning percentage, according to ESPN.com.

Previews on the running back and tackle position for the NFL Draft are up at Fox Sports Wisconsin.

A look at late-round quarterbacks from a Packers perspective is given at the Press-Gazette.

Packers Draft columns are published at Fox 11's website on trades, needs on defense and picking for need.

I figured Ted would be busy on the 26th. He must be trading the first round pick.
