Packers Cut Running Back Kapri Bibbs

The Green Bay Packers have released veteran running back Kapri Bibbs, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Bibbs was claimed off waivers by the Packers near the tail end of last season.  He had spent time with Washington, in training camp with the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos, who signed Bibbs as an undrafted free agent in 2014.

Currently Green Bay's running back group consists of Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Dexter Williams, Tra Carson and Malcolm Johnson.

The roster now stands at 89 and there is a spot open.

Was rooting for him!

Hopefully we have all the talent needed at RB.

Can't say I'm drooling over Bibbs replacement.

I bet Ibraheim Campbell is ready to pass his physical and rejoin the back end.

Thank God Jacobson didn't write this story, the whole backfield would be going to hell in a handbasket with this move.

Hmmmm..... Is this one of those comments where you think your being clever or funny but actually end up just looking kind of like a A-Hole yourself?

SO unnecessary...

I once dated a girl that wore capri bibs with nothing underneath. That was pretty hot.

What happend to TK???
Just as his name came up I realised that I did not read something from him in a long time. One of the best here, I enjoyed his posts a lot. Smart and funny.

Isn’t Johnson a full back, so Vitale missing? I guess they like Carson better as depth heading into camp.

Since '61.

Surely you do not expect the roster to stay static for the next 60 -70 days??

Of course not. I hope Gute continues to churn the bottom of the roster to improve the team. We don’t need marginal players we need players who are solid role players, even at the bottom 3rd of the roster.

As for Bibbs I never heard of him before today. Hence the Who?
Thanks, Since ‘61

Since '61,

He's been around a while. Don't know his problem.

I agree Guty should keep churning the roster. But churn it so there is only a 1a and 1b. Hopefully we can get better than 1c's.

I liked him. But then I was on the Rajion Neal bandwagon too.
And the John Crockett bandwagon.
And the Eddie Lacy bandwagon....... meanwhile, Frank Gore keeps chugging along for team after team.... I think the guy was drafted in 1997....

Cutting Bibbs saves GB 800k on the cap free and clear

Cutting Bibbs increases cap space by $174K assuming the team signs another player at the rookie minimum. If the Packers signed Campbell for his minimum salary (5th-year player), there would be no savings at all.

Wasn’t going to make the cut anyway. Let him go early for another opportunity elsewhere.

Maybe they can re-sign former TE Colt Lyerla with the open spot on the roster.

He can always be brought back if injuries rear up, if he doesn’t catch on somewhere else. As many have stated, the 90 man roster is in constant flux and we also have opportunities as other teams make cuts.
