Packers add RB depth, claim Kapri Bibbs off waivers

-- A roster move was expected at the running back position this week, and a roster move at the running back position was delivered.

The Green Bay Packers announced on Monday that they claimed Kapri Bibbs off of waivers from the Washington Redskins, giving them another backfield option while starter Aaron Jones recovers from a sprained MCL.

Bibbs, 25, was signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and spent the first three years of his career there. He was on the roster when the Broncos won Super Bowl 50.

Bibbs was part of a trade that sent him to the San Francisco 49ers, where his short stay resulted in him being released by September. He's been with the Redskins since November of last year where he's carried the ball 41 times for 180 yards and three touchdowns.

This season, in particular, has been a significant one for Bibbs, as his role was somewhat amplified in the Redskins' offense. Through 10 games, Bibbs has 33 touches 203 scrimmage yards.

The Packers may shut Jones down for the rest of the year with just two games left to play and being already eliminated from playoff contention. As of right now, Bibbs will join Jamaal Williams as the only two pure running backs on the roster, with Danny Vitale functioning as the team's fullback.

Shutdown Jones, Rodgers, Clark, Bahk, Martinez, Adams, Alexander.

Use the roster spots for tryouts.

The NFL is not a collegiate endeavor nor is it 'fantasy football'. -- The NFL is a 'big bucks' league with rules.

There is no rule against it. If you can find it please post it.

The Bucs pretty obviously tanked in the final game of 2014 to secure the #1 pick and nothing happened.

The players that can play will play. This isn't the NBA.

I don't watch professional basketball anymore. Has the game changed so players who can play don't play? I know the league has gotten a lot younger, but that seems silly. I think if you can play you should have an opportunity to compete, if you have earned it.

Yes, perfectly healthy NBA players have regularly scheduled rest days. It happens on every team multiple times a year, and isn't hidden or anything. The NBA has mentioned doing something about it for the last year or 2 now, but nothing so far

I like this signing. Good back. Also has a younger brother Roy G. Bibbs who is pretty good high school player from what I read.

Need to know if Kizer can play. Not throwing him vs. Bears defense. If he can’t handle the Jets, need to look elsewhere for 2019 backup,

I think a lot of it will have to do with the new coach, new scheme, and what kinds of players they want in it. They might not see Kizer or Boyle as fits, and might rather go in a new direction regardless of what those players do or don't do down the stretch. There's a whole season of film on Kizer, and whether he can play or not in the MM/Philbin scheme, he's going to have to learn the new one for next fall.

I imagine how it would go if they benched Rodgers.

Philbin: Guys, we're going to take a look at Kizer/Boyle. We're not throwing in the towel so play hard and give them both everything you'd give Aaron.

Team: Sure thing coach. We'll get right on it. Those two will definitely help us look good as we audition for 2019 in GB or elsewhere. We're totally on board with it. Are we done here? I have to call my agent.

If the Packers tank the last two games they will be identified as a loser franchise....and it will be well deserved.

Losing games after giving maximum effort shows character and integrity.

Purposely sitting healthy starters to expect defeat and improve draft position is pathetic and a team unworthy of support. And I will not watch nor spend any more money on a defective product designed to fail.
