Packers Check Out Small School Defensive Lineman

The Packers were in attendance at the pro day workout of Alabama A&M defensive lineman Frank Kearse on Monday.

With the on campus pro day circuit underway, the Packers were reportedly one of a dozen teams that checked out Alabama A&M defensive lineman Frank Kearse on Monday.

At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Kearse fits the bill of what the Packers are looking for in their 3-4 defensive linemen.

"Frank has the ability to play in the league," Steelers scout Mark Gorscak told the Huntsville (Ala.) Times. "It is a shame he wasn't in the (NFL) combine, but that happens. Each year a guy gets left out. I wouldn't be surprised if some defensive line coaches come down and work him out."

Kearse was said to run the 40-yard dash in 5.27 seconds, bench press 225 pounds 22 times and register a 30-inch vertical jump.

The defensive line prospect is regarded as a late round draft choice at best, perhaps an undrafted free agent.
