Packers Calendar: Was Aaron Rodgers Naughty or Nice?

A decision on Rodgers' status for this upcoming Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears will apparently come on Thursday.

If Aaron Rodgers received a clean bill of health for Christmas, the sporting world will find out Thursday.

On Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, Rodgers clued in listeners to his weekly radio show that a decision would be made Thursday on his status for this upcoming Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, whether for good or bad. Rodgers has been out with a broken collarbone since early November.

The Packers don't want any uncertainty heading into their must-win season finale with a spot in the playoffs on the line. Either Rodgers or backup Matt Flynn will be declared the starter and will be prepared accordingly.

Thursday represents the first day of on-field preparations this week after the team took off Wednesday for Christmas.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will discuss the situation with reporters at a press conference at 1:15 p.m. and streamed live on the team's official website.

It's also possible that the Packers could make several roster moves on Thursday with at least two openings on their 53-man roster and perhaps more if linebacker Clay Matthews is placed on injured reserve with a broken thumb.

Before the Packers hit the practice field on Thursday, head coach Mike McCarthy will presumably make his weekly appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio (satellite radio) at 10:15 a.m. CT if the holidays haven't changed the schedule.

He'll be talking to one of his former players and Packers preseason announcer Rich Gannon along with Bruce Murray on the SiriusXM Blitz, and as usual, it's a good bet he'll once again be asked about Rodgers.

The same goes for wide receiver James Jones, who will make his weekly appearance on 101.1 FM WIXX in Green Bay for 1 on 1 with the Boys from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. CT.

The show can be streamed live online at WIXX.com and through the station's USTREAM video player.
