Packers Calendar: Mike Sherman to Join Philbin's Staff

The Miami Dolphins will reportedly make the hiring of Mike Sherman as offensive coordinator official today.

Reports indicated that it's already a done deal, but it should become official on Friday, former Packers head coach Mike Sherman will join former Packers assistant Joe Philbin's staff on the Miami Dolphins as offensive coordinator, according to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network.

Sherman was a candidate to become the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that fell through when the Bucs made the hiring of former Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano official.

Instead, Sherman will head to Miami to join Philbin, who's busy assembling his staff. It's interesting to note that it was Sherman who hired Philbin as an assistant in Green Bay and was also his English teacher in high school.

Practices continue at both the Pro Bowl and the Senior Bowl continue today, in walk-through fashion, though neither of them will be televised today.

To find out what's going on at the Senior Bowl, make sure to tune into Railbird Central right here on Cheesehead TV at 8:30 a.m. for an interview with "Pigskin" Paul Guillemette, who's down in Mobile, Ala.

Wonder if we see the Dolphins draft Ryan Tannehill now that Sherman was hired as OC. He was Tannehill coach in college and knows him better than anyone. Just an idea, you never know, the draft is a long way away still.
