Packers Calendar: First Practice Since Signing Young, Losing Bulaga

People will be lining up to see Bulaga's replacement at left tackle and to get a glimpse of the newest quarterback on the Packers roster.

Tuesday will be the Packers' first practice since signing quarterback Vince Young and the first since it was learned offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga was lost for the season.

After taking two days off following this past Saturday's intra-squad scrimmage, the Packers will practice at 8:20 a.m. CT at Ray Nitschke Field in Green Bay, which will be open to the public.

Attention will be on Bulaga's replacement at left tackle, whether it's Marshall Newhouse or rookie David Bakhtiari, either of whom will be in charge of protecting Aaron Rodgers' backside.

As the newest addition to the Packers roster, there will be an equal amount of attention on Young who will be fighting for playing time with fellow quarterbacks Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman.

It should also be interesting to see how much the Packers use Young as read-option prep work for the Packers defense, as that unit prepares to see Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III early in the season.

The forecast calls for temperatures in the mid-60s, climbing up into the 70s by the end of practice on Tuesday.

Later in the day, there will be two press conferences in Green Bay, and should be plenty to talk about, given the recent news about Young and Bulaga.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will meet the media immediately following practice, usually somewhere around 11:00 a.m. And general manager Ted Thompson will follow McCarthy at 1:00 p.m. Both press conference will be aired live on the team's official website at Packers.com.

I, for one, am very interested to hear what they have to say about the Young signing. I am also very interested to see what they do with the line today. I hope that they can leave the changes to the o-line in place and just insert the back-up into Bulaga's spot. If that is what happens then I will be pleased to see we have the depth at o-line that we were hoping for. If they completely reshuffle the line again I will not be very optimistic.

In response to myself. Yup, they shuffled it. That being said, in general the offense looked good both running and passing.

"They shuffled it."

Not the one that matters. On the #1 line, Bahktiari filled in for Bulaga...the rest stayed unchanged.

Maybe we should just call him Bacteria and get it over with.
Holmgren was "Hole-grim", Attanasio is "ant-a-nossy-o"; Bulaga is "beluga", let the fun begin!
