Packers Calendar: First Injury Report of the Season

The Green Bay Packers return to work on Wednesday in anticipation of their season opener on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Practice will take place at Clark Hinkle Field in Green Bay, but it will not be open to the public.

With practice also comes the first injury report of the season for the Packers, and all eyes will be on cornerback Casey Hayward who is working his way through a hamstring injury first cropping up prior to training camp and then re-aggravated in the team's third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Every player on the current Packers roster except Hayward reportedly practiced on Monday, so it would appear Hayward is in the biggest doubt of missing Week 1's game.

The status of safety Morgan Burnett and linebacker Brad Jones is also of interest after they sat out of the team's preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, but after practicing on Monday, they appear to be at least a step ahead of Hayward in their recovery.

At 3:00 p.m. CT all NFL teams must be under the 2013 Salary Cap, although that will not be a problem for the Packers, who have millions of dollars of room at the moment.

In the evening, wide receiver James Jones will appear on the premiere of Green Bay Nation on WFRV-TV Channel 5, the CBS affiliate in Green Bay, according to sports producer Nick Goddard.

Well, the way things looked a couple weeks ago I would've taken Casey being the only one in doubt of starting in a heartbeat. Could be worse.

I remember reading somewhere on this site that Jones and Burnett would be out till after the bye...I can't remember who said that...but, boy, I'm sure he or she is embarrassed to have been so wrong. I know I would be.

Wonder who will line up in the slot? Hyde or House? Maybe move Tramon to the slot put House outside?Hyde is good but its hard to not be nervous about a rookie getting real pt.

House is an outside corner. He's a big guy. Maybe Tramon in the slot, or Shields, Hyde definitely inside since he lacks elite speed.
