Packers Calendar: Eye on Datone Jones and His Ankle Injury

Jones will be listed on Wednesday's injury report as the Packers return to practice on Wednesday.

Following their win over the Minnesota Vikings last Thursday, the Green Bay Packers had a mini-bye of sorts and a three-day weekend off from head coach Mike McCarthy.

They've been back to work in Green Bay since Monday, holding meetings, film study and working out, but Wednesday is the first day that they'll be returning to practice.

The Packers will also release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday, and probably more than any other player, attention will be on defensive lineman Datone Jones.

During the Vikings game, Jones suffered a sprained ankle, and McCarthy said in the aftermath of the game that he didn't know whether Jones would be able to practice by Wednesday.

Jones' status will come out in the injury report, when he'll be listed as either out, limited, or a full participant.

Perhaps observers will get a more in-depth explanation from Jones during his bi-monthly radio show during the evening hours.

The Datone Jones Show will air at 6:00 p.m. CT on 107.5 FM and 1400 AM The Fan in Green Bay and streamed live online at TheFan1075.com.

Fans are welcome to be part of the live audience as the show records from the Sports Pub at Thornberry Creek in Oneida, Wis.

Apart from Jones, there are several other Packers players with injuries worth watching: wide receiver Jarrett Boykin (groin), defensive lineman Josh Boyd (knee) and linebacker Sam Barrington (hamstring), each of whom missed the Vikings game.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will have an update during a press conference to be held at approximately 1:35 p.m. and streamed live on Packers.com.

Jones is looking like a 1st round draft choice this year. I hope he's not dinged up too badly. It would be nice to have him back on the practice field today but most important is getting him healthy for the rest of the season.

Agreed. He really looked to be coming info his own. It seems that GB is very cautious with how they handle injuries. I hope he can get really healthy before he comes back.
