In a span of one day, the pair of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and PGA Tour pro Jerry Kelly improved their score from -6 to -8 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament, but their standing went from a tie for 42nd to a tie for 74th.
The problem was Rodgers and Kelly played only two under par on Friday on the Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, when most other groups had much better days.
It will be a challenge for Rodgers and Kelly to qualify for Sunday's final round, where only the top 25 low scores move on.
For the first time this week, CBS will provide coverage of the event, which will air live from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. CT. The Golf Channel will also have live coverage earlier in the day from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.
Rodgers and Kelly will play the signature Pebble Beach course on Saturday, teeing off at 8:00 a.m. local time. Their playing partners, pro golfer Rory Sabbatini and Toms shoes founder Blake Mycoskie are in first place, checking in a 23 under par.
