Packers Calendar: Bart Starr to be Honored by Pro Football Hall of Fame

The Packers return to practice today as they get ready for their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that the players would have a shorter day than usual as a way to give them some extra rest coming of the Monday Night Football game.

McCarthy will have his press conference following practice today at 1:10 p.m., which will be broadcasted live on the team's official website.

At 2 p.m. former Packers quarterback Bart Starr will be recognized in his native Montgomery, Ala. by the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Allstate Insurance Company as part of the "Hometown Hall of Famers" program honoring the roots of sports legends.

“This program is about celebrating the hometowns that helped pave the way for future Hall of Famers to become the legendary football players we all know and love,” said George Veras, Pro Football Hall of Fame Enterprises president and CEO.  “Together with Allstate we are proud to recognize Bart Starr with his ‘Hometown Hall of Famer’ plaque where it all began here in Montgomery.”

A ceremony will be held in the auditorium at Sidney Lanier High School where Starr played from 1949 to 1953.

In addition to a plaque a commemorative Bart Starr road sign will be on display in Montgomery as well.
