Packers Are Sixth-Youngest Team in the NFL
The Packers have been one of the six youngest teams in the NFL every year since 2006.
During the Green Bay Packers' annual meeting in late July, general manager Ted Thompson told the team's shareholders, “Our team is maturing. We won’t be the youngest team in the league this year for the first time in a while.”
While Thompson was right that the Packers aren't the youngest team in the NFL, they continue a trend of being among of the youngest teams in the league in the Thompson and Mike McCarthy era.
The Packers are the sixth-youngest team in the NFL this season, according to STATS LLC, based upon the average age of the players currently on the active roster.
As of Sept. 5, the average age of the Packers is 26 years and 73 days.
For comparison's sake, the youngest team in the NFL is the St. Louis Rams with an average age of 25 years and 300 days. while the division-rival Detroit Lions are the oldest team in the NFL with an average age of 27 years and 326 days.
This is the seventh-consecutive year that the Packers have been one of the six youngest teams in the NFL (depending upon when the measurement was taken), a streak dating back to 2006, McCarthy's first year as head coach and Thompson's second as general manager.
For four straight seasons from 2006 to 2009, the Packers were the youngest team in the NFL.

I think the most surprising team on there for me was the Lions. When they come to mind, I think youth movement. Thinking about it now, they do have quite a few veteran players and such, but I still wouldn't have guessed that they were the oldest team.

The Lions punter and kicker are a combined 80 years old. Those two positions have a HUGE effect on average age. For example if the Vikings keep Longwell (38) instead of Walsh (22) they go from 4th "youngest" to 14th if my math is correct. This is one of the least meaningful articles that comes out every year in my opinion.
