Packers Are Oddsmaker's Favorite As Super Bowl Champs

The Green Bay Packers are one oddsmaker's favorite to win the Super Bowl following Week 1 action in the NFL.

Following Week 1 of the NFL season, the Green Bay Packers have been elevated to league-wide favorites to win the Super Bowl, according to oddsmaker Bodog.com.

"We have a new favorite to win the Super Bowl in the Green Bay Packers," said Bodog sportsbook manager Richard Gardner. "In terms of other teams and Super Bowl odds movement, with Kansas City upsetting San Diego last week we have moved them from 100-1 to 60-1 to win Super Bowl XLV and the Chargers haved moved up a touch from 12-1 to 14-1.

"A team whose odds have shot up a bit is the Minnesota Vikings, who preseason we were taking a lot of money on them at 12-1 are now sitting at 16-1. It is still early on in the season and there have not been any other major moves just yet as it is tough to gauge a team's entire season on just 1 week."

Bodog's favorite to win the Super Bowl prior to Week 1 was the Indianapolis Colts who dropped from 17/2 odds to 10/1 after their loss to the Houston Texans.

Green Bay won in a tough environment on the road in Philadelphia last week, but their change in fortunes may come as a surprise given the loss of starting running back Ryan Grant for the season.

They went from 11/1 odds to 7/1 after the victory.

What, exactly, are the Packers' odds?

Thanks, BC. I think 7-1 is a little crazy.

Pretty crazy. I love this team, and I totally believe in the Pack's chances, but we should not be the favorite.

The Saints, for one, return a more or less intact, dominant, championship team. Week 1 didn't tell me that they have falled off a cliff.

And the Colts and Patriots are as playoff-experienced as they come.

Other than those teams, I think we are arguably a better bet than any other team. But I can't buy that we should be getting the lowest odds right now.

Odds are like other predictions, should be seen as entertainment value only.

One problem I see with the Pack is it is a young team and little experience in playoffs. Playoff experience is see as a big plus.

I'm sure I've missed something, considering my 10 month experience with NFL blogs, but Brian Sir, how significant is Bodog.com?

Now that I've explored their website, and since I don't gamble, I suppose I should say how significant are they in the gambling world?
