Packers Activate Veldheer
By jasonperone
The Packers activated offensive tackle Jared Veldheer and released Adam Pankey on Monday. This, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The #Packers announced they have activated veteran T Jared Veldheer, who was claimed on waivers last week. He was given a one week exemption because he was previously on the reserve/retired list. They haves released OL Adam Pankey to make room for Veldheer.

Good move. I like Bulaga but I wouldn’t bet on him finishing the season. Also like that Gutekunst isn’t sitting on his hands with this Oline.

Poor Pankey, just like that he's out of a job, and who knows if his NFL career is over. I guess there are downsides to being a player.

Maybe the U-71 formation will be brought out of mothballs.

The Packers needed to reinforce the tackle position pretty late in the season and Gutekunst signed and now activated a very experienced tackle who can play the right side or the left side of the line.
With the Bears and the Vikings rushers coming up, Veldheer should be valuable coming off the bench when his number is called.
This is a great late season addition and roster move by the GM!

I've met this guy, he's not only a decent journeyman FB player, he's a decent guy! A fan friendly guy, had a short visit with him in Denver once, nice fellow. This was an excellent acquisition.

If Veldheer can still play...this is a steal. Bulaga and Bak have been banged up this year and having a guy like this to plug in for a qtr. or even a game is great.

If this guys can still go it might offer some leverage in any negotiations with Bulaga.

I guess that it begs the question, why did he retire? Was it because of nagging injuries or a loss of passion for the game? And does he have much left in the tank? Seems like a good move by Gutie but he is not a long term answer. I suspect that we will have to draft someone next year.

With Jared veldheer activate, can we expect additional help on short distance situations?
What can we expect to see the packers plan on utilizing Jared veldheer
