Packers activate Raven Greene from injured reserve

The safety was a major component of Mike Pettine's sub packages during the early part of the season.

The Packers activated safety Raven Greene from injured reserve on Saturday evening.

Greene, a 5-foot-11, 197-pound second-year player out of James Madison, originally joined the Packers as an undrafted free agent in May 2018. He saw action in both of the first two games of this season, contributing on defense and special teams and making his first career start in Week 1.

As a rookie, Greene played in eight games and recorded three tackles (two solo), a sack and a pass defensed on defense before being placed on injured reserve (ankle) on Dec. 8. He also contributed on special teams with five tackles, a forced fumble, and a 26-yard carry on a fake punt in 2018.

Presumably he's active tomorrow or what's the point. Good Luck Raven!

Assuming he is healthy, he might match up better with Kittle than anyone else on he roster.

Here’s hoping he’s everything everyone made him out to be. The past few weeks you’d of thought he was Reggie white and the missing link. But hey, if it works I’m for it.

Depends on what sub packages Pettine has planned. If Sullivan is good to go, I would not be surprised to see a 3-5-5 sub with both playing ILB/hybrid and T. Williams in the slot. Or even a 1-4-6 with both and no ILB and the Smiths playing over center. (Just a suggestion. But Pettine has proven he is crazy enough to do it during the season... :-)

Dang. I meant Campbell... Still, Sullivan has played well in the second slot.

Thank you very much. I
I have been hoping for his return since the release of Toni Brown
Let's expect him to contribute around 35% of defensive snaps

I like how this wasn't announced until Saturday. 49ers have little to no time to prepare unless they stayed up late watching film on Green.

Perhaps Pettine has big plans for him? We shall see...

I'd think this was a predetermined move when they cut Tony Brown.
Unfortunately, I doubt the 49ers would be caught sleeping on anything the press has been talking about for those 2-3 weeks. They don't miss much.

I was thinking the same. I’m sure he may be on a snap count- but it being playoffs maybe not.

I’ve wondered why Brown got released. I thought he had potential. Good speed and good in locker room I thought. Maybe I over think. Go Pack!

This is a good thing, if he's in playing shape and ready to go he could be a big help against the run and Kittle.
But the fact that it's taken a couple weeks since this was first announced would make me think he's still less that 100%. Hope I'm wrong.

He’s been out all year. He needed a couple of weeks to get up to speed. This is a huge game. Can’t just put any shmoe in there without adequate preparation. Good compliment to Campbell.
