Packers 2021 NFL Draft: Day 3 Targets

The Packers addressed major needs at cornerback, offensive line, and wide receiver in the first three rounds... but there's a lotta draft left - who should they be looking at? Here's a list of top prospects for the Packers to target.

Day 1 of the draft brought us a new cornerback (and some drama).

Day 2 brought us a new center and the much-coveted wide receiver selection we've all been waiting for (and more drama).

Now, we get to look ahead to the all-important Day 3, where the real gems and biggest values are found (especially this year, when scouts have a lot less film to review due to shortened seasons and player opt-outs).

Ted Thompson regularly found stars like David Bakhtiari, Aaron Jones, and Josh Sitton on Day 3. So far, Brian Gutekunst hasn't gotten quite the same level of production from his Day 3 picks.

After trading up on Day 2, he starts today with six picks to make an impact and most of the glaring holes already addressed in some form.

With all that in mind, here are the top players I'd like to see the Packers target on Day 3, including the first three, who are still remaining from my list of 5 Mid-Round Sleepers The Packers Should Target In The 2021 NFL Draft:

Josh Imatorbhebhe (Wide Receiver) A 6'2, 215 power receiver. Great hands and tough to bring down. Average speed, but a huge catch radius and great at back shoulder throws (if you have a quarterback that can throw them).

Marvin Wilson (Defensive Lineman) He looked like he was going to be a 1st round pick two years ago before losing weight and looking ineffective in 2020. He's a disruptive, high-motor pass rusher who wrecks run gaps if he can get back to his 2019 form.

Pooka Williams (Running Back) A small (5'10, 170), patient zone runner with 4.37 speed, he can accelerate to the edge or hit a crease at blow past anyone, but comes with some character red flags.

James Hudson (Offensive Tackle) After converting from defensive line and missing a year due to transfer paperwork issues, Hudson played one season at offensive line, but showed a strong anchor and good mobility on his way to becoming PFF's highest-graded offensive lineman at the Senior Bowl. Tons of raw potential for a zone scheme tackle.

Daviyon Nixon (Defensive Lineman) Powerful big man with good hand moves and a high motor. He's a twitchy 300-pounder with good change of direction.

Michael Carter (Running Back) Compact build at 5'7, 205, Carter lacks power but has great vision and twists forward for effort yards after contact. Also a good receiver out of the backfield and a productive kick returner.

Camryn Bynum (Cornerback) Press corner with 4 years of starting experience. Athletic with a natural feel for reading routes. A poor Senior Bowl showing dropped his stock.

TJ Vasher (Wide Receiver) A 6'6, 210 jump ball demon who runs good routes and makes acrobatic catches, Vasher's 4.5 speed dropped him on draft boards.

Tommy Togiai (Defensive Lineman) A squat run-stuffer, the 6'2, 300 Togiai is quick off the snap and plays with great leverage. Not easily moved, he emerged as a pass rusher in his final season, averaging 3 pressures per game.

Cameron Sample (Edge) Quick with a nice bull rush, Sample has nice hand moves and dominated the Senior Bowl 1x1's.

Shaka Toney (Edge) Undersized speed rusher, the 240-pound Toney has a quick first step and has the look of a valuable 3rd down role player.

Bobby Brown (Defensive Line) At 6'4, 315, Brown gets out of his stance quick and wins with power, driving blockers backwards and stalemating double teams.

Ihmir Smith-Marsette (Wide Receiver) Good at shaking defenders off the line, the 6'2, 185 Smith-Marsette has the speed to separate and excels at double moves. He doesn't muscle balls away from anyone, but he has some potential as a kick returner.

Garrett Wallow (Linebacker) A former safety, Wallow flies to the ball and was a productive blitzer. A good zone cover option at the second level.

Darrick Forrest (Safety) A versatile defensive back, Forrest isn't a freak athlete, but he can play high, low, in the box, or cover the slot. Strong tackler who always seems to be around the ball.

Khyiris Tonga (Defensive Line) A beast on the inside, the 6'4, 325 Tonga isn't very mobile and is still learning to hand fight effectively, but is a very strong interior space-eater who does not get moved very easily.

Osa Odighiwuza (Edge) A shorter rusher at 6'2, Odighiwuza flies off the ball and shows good flexibility in his moves, but needs to add power.

Tylan Wallace (Wide Receiver) Fast with good hands and a smooth catching motion, Wallace ran mostly quick outs and deep routes in college. Good with contested routes and physical after the catch.

Feleipe Franks (Quarterback) No matter what happens with Aaron Rodgers, the Packers need another quarterback in camp, whether it's a late round pick or an undrafted free agent. Given the uncertainty around the situation, the Packers may take the former approach. Franks doesn't have a cannon, but he's a big, mobile player with good short to medium accuracy.

Max Duffy (Punter) Yup, a punter. If you want to get JK Scott some competition, Duffy is your guy. The 2019 Ray Guy Award winner for the best punter in the nation, Duffy showed off his leg strength with a 75 yard kick last year.

Other names to watch: Chuba Hubbard (Running Back), Rico Bussey Jr (Wide Receiver), Brevin Jordan (Tight End), Bryce Hargrove (Guard), Adrian Ealy (Offensive Tackle), Dylan Moses (Linebacker), Rodarius Williams (Cornerback), James Wiggins (Safety)

Day 3 of the draft may not have the same feeling of excitement as the 1st round, but this is where teams can differentiate themselves. Finding the next David Bakhtiari or Aaron Jones in the later rounds can launch a team to the next level.

Hopefully Brian Gutekunst can find a couple gems today.

Hey Bruce, Osa was taken by DAL last night.

There are 5 very solid players in each round that I know would help the Packers. Wish we had more picks. Gutekunst could be bold and trade up high, or sit back and let it come to him. Hoping for the latter, but could see him jumping up to score a gem.

Could easily see SEA as a R4 trade partner, being very pick poor this draft.

The best draft pick can be made by Mark Murphy by firing Gute and extending Rodgers .....
If AR leaves, we will see the true value of the team as a whole ... (MODEST) ..... prepare for the return to the 70s

That sets a horrible precedent though. If a player doesn't like what a GM does the player can force him out? Aaron Rodgers doesn't have to like it. If Gute decides to draft a player he doesn't need to clear it with Rodgers. If Gute decides he doesn't want to add years to a deal for a 38 year old player who already has 3 years left on a deal he signed he doesn't have to add years.

Rodgers is a very skilled QB, but he's totally in the wrong. He has zero leverage, so he's trying this BS. The only thing it does is prove Gute was right to draft insurance at the QB position.

His NFCCG record strongly disagrees.

He has never turned water into wine or fed the masses.

Lets move on...

For two years we have been so close to being able to access the SB and what does Gute do? argue with our best player without whom I want to know how we hope to win an SB

How is Gute arguing? He's done his job, he doesn't need Rodgers permission. Rodgers isn't the GM.

I don't know how old tut is, anyway ..... In forty years, when you are as old as me, we should have another QHOF I recommend we think about the team of the future !!!! Maybe when we are in the grave we will see a new SB

To be clear! I have nothing against JL and when he becomes the starting Q he will be MY Q and I will cheer him on.
All my comments concern only the technical aspect. I am also afraid that he does not have the character that can make him bear these problems (Think about what AR went through after Favre !!!)

I have to laugh at Packers fans turning on Rodgers and now he's just "very skilled" and not the most talented QB of ALL TIME. He has every right to be pissed off and we as fans have NO right to turn on him. Look at the scores of the playoff games he has lost. He has had a defense to speak of TWICE in his career, 2010 and 2014. They have handled the roster in one way or another IRRESPONSIBLY since they won the Super Bowl. Rodgers is coming off his best season and wanted to play into his 40s. GUTECUNT is the one thats wrong here. They signed 4 guys 2 years ago and now they cant figure out the salary cap give me a break.

No it doesn't. You have to look at the lies behind this. Why should a QB keep breaking his neck.? Play his heart out. And keep putting up with the business decisions. Poor drafts. And a broken promises. He kept his tongue. Enough is enough. He wants to leave and I don't blame him.

I agree, I take Rodgers over the guy that picked Jimmy Graham over Jordy, traded Damarious Randall for Deshone Kizer and TRADED UP for Jordan Love. He has to go if we want to win a Super Bowl

At this moment I don't understand how the Draft can interest anyone. It is generally true it is our future, but currently our future is to keep AR or Gute? Anyway I am not understanding .....
If AR is THE PROBLEM why didn't Gute trade it before the draft or now ???
We want to repeat the story that GBP gave AR a lot of money and that he only has to think about playing ??? very well. Then it means that we live in another world or in any case out of reality. All teams (and I mean ALL) involve their main star in the project let alone if Green Bay shouldn't do it with perhaps the most talented Q the sport has seen.
The truth is that Gute played behind AR thinking he could use it as he pleased (if not, what problems would he have in anticipating the choice of Love to AR ????).
AR may have a particular character, but Gute caused this situation and now he doesn't know how to get out of it and I don't know how he can be preferred to AR
Football is a team game, but in every team there are players who influence the organization. Gute wanted to be the GOD of the sport and now he will become the laughing stock of the situation.
And in the end the true overall value of the team without AR will come out ... (MODEST)
If we want to stay in the 2000s we have no alternative but to fire Gute otherwise welcome to the 70s

If we were something serious in Green Bay there should be a revolution (sporting of course) to send Gute away ...... (I would be willing to leave Italy)

Fire Gute - anyone think Jordan Love is gonna be good? Just remember this asshole basically traded a 1st rounder for fucking Deshone Kizer too, while refusing to extend Rodgers coming off an MVP season. He doesnt know his ass from his elbow when it comes to QBs - get rid of him. Now. And Russ Ball. Good riddance.

Tampa drafted a QB in the 2nd round. Is Tom Brady going to the owner and demanding that the GM is fired? Is he refusing to play? Rodgers should be smart enough to see how the GOAT (Brady) has handled his career by not expecting to be paid top dollars and allowing the team to sign other good players. Give me Sports for $1000, Aaron.

Comment out of this world !! If you don't believe us, ask Garoppolo !! and anyway I'm sure Brady was aware of Tampa's choice
PS Do you think Brady plays another two years ????
Please .... let's keep making comparisons out of every sense. The reality is that AR still has at least 4 years of excellent level (anyway above almost all the other Qs except Mahomes) while Gute can't wait to get rid of it !!!!
At least he had the courage to carry on his beliefs and exchange it !! The problem is that then the problems would arise and he would be solely responsible. Instead it's always nice to be able to blame someone else .....

For the record when Brady got mad about Garoppolo's choice, the New England CEO chose Brady and let Garoppolo go .......
We will clearly do the opposite ..... not by chance they have won 6 SB !!!!
