Good a place as any- with the new OT rule regarding a field goal- it makes sense to kick off- I would think? While a TD beats you- a field goal doesn't. - If it was about 50-50 prior to the new rule- I present that the kicking team will have an advantage as this rule plays out.

But why would a team turn down the opportunity to score a TD and win the game on the first drive of OT.

Well if you think your chances are greater that you can score a TD in one 80 yard drive rather than stopping a team from an 80 yd drive for a TD- so be it. - a field goal leaves you vulnerable.

Granted- it depends on the type of game but a long 80 yd TD drive will be a bit challenging to execute as caution in field goal range will inhibit a first drive team's aggressiveness.

We'll see how it plays out---
