I have 0 faith in NFL officiating. The point of emphasis in 2019 should be LET THE PLAYERS PLAY. Quit it with all the fines you aren't making the game remotely safer you're just greedy.

Fine money goes to charity, primarily the Union's Player Assistance Trust, which helps former players.

TGR it's great that the money goes into a trust. I still don't like fining rookie players on rookie contracts. Fines add up and a lot of them are on tricky tacky calls which are 100% subjective and inconsistent.

I have to laugh that I got a thumbs down. I didn't say that the officiating is done properly or poorly or for the proper reasons. I suppose fines could be done as a percentage of (IDK) AAV. I do think it is necessary to have some fines - Michael Bennett should have gotten more fines than he has.

I think fines themselves are fine but penalizing the players games costs their team and costs them roster bonuses. Michael Bennet with his cheap shots over the years should have been kicked out of games and not allowed to play until he cleaned up his act. Unfortunately, those cheap shots are entertaining and entertainment sells. So those game penalties get reduced from 4 games to 1 and makes their whole enforcement of player safety a farce at best.

As for the thumbs up/down they're based off of TGR you get free thumbs up because people like you and thumbs down because people don't. At the end of the day who cares? I'm on CHTV to learn more about the Packers and share my enthusiasm with fellow fans. Without this blog I wouldn't have thought to look where the fine $ went. You informed me and I appreciate that. I responded and gave you a thumbs up it should really be that simple.

Aaron, for what it's worth, I think when Philbin referred to "the boss", he may have been talking about Mrs. Philbin.

Longtime Saints OC Pete Carmichael Jr. is scheduled to interview with the Packers on Saturday, per source. I believe @JasonLaCanfora was the first to report Packers' interest in Carmichael. ... Three teams (GB, AZ, CLE) also requested interviews with Saints TE coach Dan Campbell.

No surprise regarding Campbell having other suiters. He looks like he has a pretty good chance to succeed. I'm guessing he'll land somewhere pretty quickly.

There have been periods where the head coach was a key figure, such as when Bill Walsh came to the 49ers. I think we are in a time now where teams can’t win without a high quality head coach.

That’s why Murphy’s legacy, and the Pack’s future really does come down to this decision. I really wouldn’t want to be him right now.

I would LOVE to be in his shoes right now...or at least in on this search process in a meaningful way.

My point was there really aren’t any great options. Murphy’s name may live in infamy no matter who he chooses. A “safe” option will get you competent but not Super Bowl play. Murphy’s epitaph could the read, “He was good if not great.”

OTOH, a risky bet might end with Murphy in Sansabelt slacks playing bocce ball down in Florida. Or, it might end with another SB trophy.
