Packer Fan Video Nominee: Brett Favre Burning

Now that the 2nd Annual Titletown Awards nominees have been announced, we thought we'd shine a spotlight on each of the nominees for Best Packer Fan Video 2009.
What better place to start than a video that gives meaning and a theme to the 2008-2009 Season for the Green Bay Packers?
This video was made by a family of die-hard Packer Fans in Nashota, Wisconsin.

First posted to Youtube on July 26th - this video was featured in a WTMJ newscast segment as well as here on our site. Producer & Co-Writer Charlie Starks, father Ted and brother Jack are the three featured Packer Fans in the video. The original inspiration for the video? Favre's Greta Van Susteren Interview. Director Rebbeca Brumder tells CHTV what inspired them to make the video:

We decided to make Brett Favre Burning after Brett appeared on Greta Van Susteren's show last July. We all loved Brett (I idolized him myself) but were very disillusioned and upset by his interview with Ms. Susteren. I can remember one of my nephews saying that it was like finding out Santa Claus doesn't exist; Brett Favre the myth and Brett Favre the man turned out to be two separate and distinct entities. This realization was a rude awakening for all of us.

Although much of the response to Brett Favre Burning was positive, we also got some pretty scary feedback from viewers on YouTube; it provoked a number of very angry responses, a few of which we deleted because they were so bizarre and/or threatening in nature.

Anyhow, we decided to make the video as a kind of catharsis, to help us deal with our anger and disappointment with Brett. We didn't actually burn anything of value during the making of it; we took the helmet, jersey, and the signed photos off the burn pile before igniting it. And, we still like Brett and are grateful for all that he (and Deanna) did for the Packers and for the State of Wisconsin.

Well said. Nice video. It sort of says everything you need to say for last season as far as mood & theme goes...If you don't watch the video in it's entirety I must say you are missing out though. There is a BRILLIANT clip of Ted Thompson interviewed at the very end...wow..."Toilet Bowl to the Superbowl" - what a great way to dedicate a piece. Oh and guys - I got a certain Jets Jersey you can actually burn for the sequel.

You can see all of the videos here. Vote for your favorite on the home page. Winners will be announced February 27th at 1:00pm EST. Learn more in the new Titletown Awards section of our site.

Wow, settle down on the dramatics, there hyland. What's too bad? A true fan showing their emotions through a video?! If that makes you sick, then I assume you don't watch the nightly news. Your stomach probably can't handle it.

hyland - welcome.

OK, first of all, Cheesehead TV did not make the video. We did nominate it for a Titletown Award because it obviously reflects how a lot of Packer fans feel.

Secondly, I find it funny you can tell the people who made the video to "grow up" in defense of a man who has acted like a spoiled brat for the past year and a half.

Finally, you are defending a guy who WANTS to play for the Minnesota Vikings - let that sink in - he WANTS to play for the VIKINGS.

I question what kind of Packer fan you are.
