Lafluer couldn’t land his first choice!
Not a good sign if you can’t sell the Packers over the Badgers.
Two years ago he did not get his 1st choice in Special Teams Coord. And look how that turned out. I don’t have a good feeling about this choice —50 yr old White Guy who has done nothing in his career as a DC. Lafluer wants the Staley system so he got this guy to run it.

Ya only a despirate person like Berry would want to take on the dumpster fire called the Pack Defense. Sorry but I thought the defense sucked most of the year and was saved by Rodgers and Adams.

I agree that his past isn't impressive at all - but now we need to pick coaches on their skin color?? So - now the Packers are a racist organization, although they just fired a 50-year white guy so they could keep the up&coming young black guy. Maybe we should have hired a crippled mentally challenged native america/black/hispanic transvestite - based on your criteria - we would have a defensive better than the 85 Bears

I'm underwhelmed by this choice! Of all of the candidates out there...couldn't the packers have gone after a candidate that actually presided over talented and successful defenses? By all appearances..he seems like nothing more than "just a guy" with some coaching experience!
There was that "Richards" fellow that at one time helped bring about a top 5 ranking defenses, several times while DC of the Seahawks for an example...why not somebody like him!! there were numerous candidates that would have been an improvement over what we previously had!! instead...coach Lafluer ended up picking somebody that he had worked simply worked with before! Frustrating and disappointing....are my first reactions!!

Now if he ends up being the "second coming" of great DC's in the league than i will happily apologize!!
that being said........if the packers Defense...going forward performs worse or no better than before......then i don't want to hear it from Lafleurs mouth complaining about it since he is partly to blame..based on his choice of picking some average coach instead of somebody with proven success!

Like many, I had Barry, just based on his resume, as an improbable choice. So his hiring was a head scratcher but MLF knows better than any of us what he is looking for in a DC. However the hiring does continue the trend of Packers (like many other NFL teams) of hiring non-minorities for key, upper-echelon coaching and management positions. I also wonder how many of the minority candidates were interviewed because of their qualifications and others because of the NFLs diverse hiring practices - that is strictly for cosmetic purposes. Apparently the Packers wanted a fresh and new voice as a DC. While Barry is new his hire doesn't seem to be very "fresh." I believe that the Packers missed an opportunity to make a statement with a (qualified) minority hire.Surely there is another Todd Bowles waiting in the wings somewhere.

Why can’t we hire someone based on the content of their character and not their skin color as MLK spoke about?

Come on now Alberta, the next thing you're going to insinuate is that Joe Barry benefitted from nepotism ... just cause his daddy-in-law Rod Marinelli gave him his first DC job in Detroit ... after Joey worked for Rod in Tampa Bay. We know that is not how the NFL coaching business works, it is merit, merit, and nothing but merit.

The next thing you'll probably claim is that Barry benefited from the fact that his old man Mike also coached in the NFL (when there were even fewer opportunities for African-Americans to coach) and that gave him a leg up in the coaching fraternity.

I'm sure some folks also claimed nepotism was the reason that Mike McCarthy hired former longtime Texas A&M Coach R.C. Slocum's kid Shawn to coordinate the Pack's special teams. Hogwash, we all know Shawn was a great Special Teams Coordinator and his daddy's name had nothing to do with it.

Surely somewhat with such a sterling track record in Detroit and Washington, Joe Barry DESERVED a third opportunity as an NFL Defensive Coordinator, right?

While I despise the hire....the packers had two coordinator jobs open...one went to a minority and one did not. To always insinuate that race played a part in either hire is ridiculous. They were racist to hire one but not racist for the other? Also...I am sure the new special teams coordinator would not be pleased to hear people say he wasn’t the most qualified candidate but instead was hired solely due to race. Real boost to the ego.

" We will be working with our players to make a $250,000 donation to Wisconsin causes that support social justice and racial equality and announcing the donations in the near future." - Mark Murphy, June 04, 2020

For your edification, check the Packers Front Office - Administration, Football Operations, Player Personnel etc... and count the number of minority personnel in the top half of each department. Hint: you'll only need one hand.

\"Florida is proud to host Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa to crown the champion of an unprecedented NFL season. On behalf of Floridians and football fans across the nation, I'd like to thank the many men and women who worked hard to make this game a reality, especially our frontline health care workers who have worked tirelessly over the past year to keep people safe. I look forward to the positive impact this game will have on the Tampa Bay area, and my family and I can't wait for the big game!\" – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
The majority of these health care workers -- all of whom will have received both doses of the vaccine -- will come from hospitals and health care systems in the Tampa and central Florida area. They will receive free Super Bowl tickets and gameday experiences directly from the NFL. All 32 NFL clubs will select vaccinated health care workers from their communities to attend the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay on Sunday, Feb 7.
In Tampa, Mayor Jane Castor announced a temporary ordinance requiring that masks be worn outside in several popular gathering spots. The order states that violators could be fined $500 as a “last resort.”

Three for three. Brady outdueled Donovan McNabb, whose final desperation heave was picked off by Rodney Harrison to seal a Patriots victory. New England wide receiver Deion Branch earned MVP honors after catching 11 passes from Brady for 133 yards.
Who will perform the Super Bowl halftime show?
If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Brady would be only the second starting quarterback -- Peyton Manning was the first -- to win Super Bowls with multiple franchises. He would be the first to do it, though, in the same season in which he switched teams and conferences, during a pandemic, with no offseason practices and no preseason games, in a new offense, when face-to-face meetings were largely forbidden. At age 43. It would make this, arguably, Brady's crowning achievement, the twilight of his career lit by a bonfire of obstacles he has overcome.

All without any offseason practices or minicamps with coaches. Brady knew some of the challenges he would face -- when he signed, he immediately demanded the phone numbers of his new receivers -- and he organized his own workouts at a local high school despite pandemic-related mandates against gatherings. Gabbert was at those thrice-weekly sessions and raved about how much was accomplished, with the focus mostly on giving Brady a chance to learn about his receivers, what their body language meant, how they run routes, when they break.

It's halftime and I was hoping that Brady get his butt kicked. But we see how putting together a team is getting the best players, not getting a qb for a few years down the road. (yeah, bringing that up again). And TB D is playing lights out. And Packers sign a failed DC. MLF said of the game against TB the D calls, that the buck stops with him. So what did he do - he fires the DC. And now brings in what might be a yes man - why else does he get picked?

MLF did a good job of redesigning the offense plays - something that EVERYBODY except MM knew had to be done. But his play calling was not exemplary, let ST falter all year an now he picks a very questionable new DC.

So I go back to statements after the Love pick - if mgmt thought Packers were one player away from SB, they would not have picked Love. I don't fully blame them bc Rodgers did seem to be declining. Now it seems that mgmt might be the bigger issue in GB - just as it had been under MM/TT/MM/DC/SC/etc.

Just a bit of a frustrated rant. I still need that vacation.

Always GPG!

Addendum - now it's 31-9 - is TB laying off. Nope! Any 3 man rushes. Nope! That's D.

We could have won it all this year. Tampa's D should be MVPlayers.
