As a fan from Europe (London), who started following the Packers in the '80's, I can attest to how hard it was to get news back then, for any NFL team.
Our only live option was to try to tune in to a very weak AFN (Armed Forces Network) radio station and for game reports we'd try to pick up The Herald Tribune. Later there was a publication call First Down but that came out I think the Thursday after the game.
I remember listening to the Packers v Bears game on AFN when Majik threw a TD late in the game and then there was that long wait for whether he was over the line or not. AFN of course dropped out during this wait and I was frustratingly pacing around the radio with my mates, and then desperately trying to twiddle with the tuning in an attempt to get the station back for what seemed ages only to get the station back just as the announcement was made that the call was overturned and we'd won.
