Pack-A-Day Podcast - Episode 36 - Rodgers Signs His Extension

What a day. Aaron Rodgers officially signed his contract extension and in doing so became the highest paid player in NFL history. Meanwhile Brian Gutekunst stayed busy by dealing backup quarterback Brett Hundley to the Seattle Seahawks; thereby promoting DeShone Kizer to the backup quarterback position. News also broke that the Packers intend to keep Tim Boyle on the 53 man roster when camp breaks. Luckily Andy Herman and Dusty Evely are here to make sense of it all and breakdown what it all means in today's Pack-A-Day Podcast!

For Dusty to insinuate Packer fans jumped on the Boyle bandwagon because he's "a white dude" is extremely insulting.

I won't even hope for a conservative voice at Cheesehead, but can you guys at least find ONE contributor who isn't a racially insulting liberal?

It's bad enough you allow a lunatic to post unprovoked racial, religious, and political insults, but can't you muster ONE voice of balance?

But hey, we Packer fans like Boyle's play because he's white, right? On a site where one of your buddies is free to accuse people of attending KKK rallies, this is just more reason for my disgust.

Andrew, I'm as big of a Tim Boyle fan as there is and I took no offense by Dusty's comments. Working with Dusty for some time now I know his comments were made in jest and were not racially or politically driven in any way, shape, or form. The cult heros in Green Bay have been Kuhn, Janis, Ripper, Kumerow, and now Tim Boyle seems to be getting that similar type of buzz; Dusty's point was whether or not this was another situation of way too much hype for a back of the roster type player. We do podcasts like this to escape the political issues going around the world, not to evoke them. I appreciate your feedback and appreciate you listening.

The cult we form also loves Driver, White, Jennings, Butler, 2 great new CB's, 3 exciting new WR's, Aaron Jones (the running game savior), and I happen to have been a big defender of Kizer and Hundley.

For goodness sakes, our fanbase was the first to catch and embrace young black men leaping into the stands! Packer fans don't care AT ALL what color Boyle is, and your partner wasn't speaking in jest. He really does view us backward hick Packer fans that way.

As for politics, your writers have occasionally weighed in on such issues and always lean one direction--zero diversity--and you allow WKU to inject leftist politics, race obsession, and anti-religious bigotry all the time. If I did the opposite, you'd ban me in a heartbeat, and rightfully so.

But the bias is incessant, and needs to stop. Your partner needs to apologize, WKU needs to be banned, and all of us need to be held to one standard.

Honestly, I think you guys do a fantastic job on this site and with the podcasts--and as someone who speaks regularly on the radio, I love your delivery.

But if you guys want this apolitical, then it needs to be equally apolitical.

"Race obsession" - It was you who claimed that the African-American race is "prone to raging". It was you who posted the usual propaganda about African-American v. white crime and murder rates, as if those statistics justify police abuse of any individual. I simply pointed out your obvious racial animus.

"Politics" - It was you who posted several lengthy diatribes supporting Trump. I pointed out that Trump and the alt-right are not true mainstream Conservatives and/or Republicans. They do not hold the values of the big tent advocated by President Reagan.

"Religious bigotry" - I have consistently commented in favor of established, mainstream religions, those that have existed for hundreds of years. To the contrary, you have commented in favor of the fringe evangelicals, who are attempting to turn our country into a religious oligarchy.

As for Packers fans, the overwhelming majority do embrace players of all races and backgrounds. The bigoted few, such as you, Taryn, White _Tornado, and Johnblood27, should not be allowed to hide behind the good people who are accepting of all people.

Look, You've both made some points I agree with and some I disagree with.

ALP: As for the podcast, I agree it's not something Dusty should have said but there is definitely a segment of Packers fans that think that way. I've seen and heard it many times. Go hang out on some of the old school Packers bulletin boards out there and you will be taken aback. But It's surely not confined to Packers fans, it exists across many segments of our society.

WKU: I know you didn't start this fight here, but in general, you're just too often involved in these kinds of spats on this site. I will ask you kindly to try to stay within the parameters of the site, i.e. Packers football.

I'm sure neither one of you are going to be happy with my comment, but so be it. I'm just tired of these type of arguments here. If you have to fight, fight over who should make the team at long snapper or something.

I'm going to close comments on this post and we will end this here.
